First Physical Examination

Your young pet’s first exam will be one of the most important ones of his or her lifetime. It will be your veterinarian’s first chance to screen for a number of potential issues, such as internal and external parasites, dental health, and body confirmation. However, these examinations are not just beneficial for your pet. The first visit is your chance to seek counsel about wellness care, behavior, or other concerns from animal experts.

Vaccinations

Veterinarians agree that young pets should be started on a vaccination program around eight weeks of age. Young pets have immature immune systems, which means they have more difficulty fighting disease than adult animals. Vaccines are the most effective method of stimulating the immune system to protect it from disease.

Parasite Prevention

Puppies and kittens are especially vulnerable to parasitic infections and can be born with parasites passed down from the mother. Early screening and prevention products will help protect them against parasites like fleas and intestinal worms.

Spay/Neuter

Here at Inglemoor Animal Hospital we always encourage our clients to take this very important step in protecting their young pet’s health. Neutering or spaying your pet will provide your dog or cat with many short-term and long-term benefits. In addition to preventing an unwanted pregnancy, it can reduce or eliminate risky pet behaviors, such as wandering, spraying/marking while also reducing/eliminating the risks of certain types of cancers.
