General Services

Annual Exam: Our doctors encourage annual exams for all pets. Finding problems early can increase the life of your pets.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Electrocardiography: Our electrocardiograph is used to produce an electrocardiogram (EGG or EKG) which is used to diagnose and monitor treatment of diseases of the heart. The machine is identical to those used on humans.

Emergency Care: Please call (503) 636-5681 for instructions for after-hour emergencies or go to our Emergency Care section.

House Calls: We do perform house calls. Please call ahead of time so we can block off appointment and technician time for your house call. Emergencies will be handled immediately.

Medical Baths: Our clinic provides medicated and non-medicated bathing for dogs and cats.

Microchips: We offer microchip implantation. Microchips provide a safe and permanent way to identify your pet.

Pharmacy: We maintain an extensive inventory of pharmaceuticals, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Radiology Services: Our on-site x-ray equipment provides very high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We have a modern digital x-ray system that allows us to transmit the x-ray images immediately to board certified veterinary radiologists for their interpretation. Digital x-ray machines have the added advantage of much less radiation exposure to the patient.

Ultrasound: Ultrasound, or ultrasonography, is a diagnostic ultrasound-based imaging technique used for the examination of your pet's heart, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, urinary bladder, etc. It can also be used to determine pregnancy and to monitor an ongoing pregnancy. Ultrasound poses no known risks to the patient because it does not use ionizing radiation.

Video Vetscope: This instrument contains a tiny color digital camera connected to a tapered probe that can be used to examine the ear canal, oral cavity, nasal passage as well as other areas of the body. The image is displayed on a color monitor where it can be viewed by the veterinarian and the patient's owner.

Surgery Services

LGVC is proud to have top quality surgical equipment to keep your pet safe and as comfortable as possible during surgery.

Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Patients undergoing anesthetic procedures are on IV fluids and using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored. This monitoring includes oxygen levels, CO2 levels, electrocardiogram, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

Blood Pressure Measurement: Blood pressure is monitored during anesthesia but we also measure blood pressure on awake dogs and cats. Like humans, pets do develop high blood pressure and can suffer from problems related to it. Our new blood pressure equipment, petMAP, is designed specifically for dogs and cats and uses new technology to provide an accurate measurement of systolic and diastolic pressure plus it also measures mean arterial pressure (MAP) and the heart rate.

Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, digital x-rays, tooth extractions, root canal therapy, periodontal therapy and oral surgery. We also provide extensive information on preventative dental home care. Click here to learn more about our dental services.

Laser Surgery: This specialized equipment is used for a wide variety of surgeries. Benefits include decreased bleeding and less pain post surgery.

Surgical Consults: A board certified veterinary surgeon is available to perform surgery in our clinic or if needed we can refer you to other specialists in the Portland area.

Surgical Services: Our modern surgical suite allows us to perform an extensive variety of surgical procedures. Please click here for more information on veterinary surgery.

Therapy Laser: Help your pet heal with therapy laser. Drug Free. Surgery Free. Relief for your pet. Therapy Lasers have been scientifically proven and successful in treating post-surgical pain and many acute and chronic conditions. Click here for more information on our Therapy Laser.
