Any time a pet needs to undergo surgery – even a routine operation –
it's a serious matter. It's important to choose an animal hospital
where the veterinarians are highly skilled, the surgery suites are
equipped with advanced safety monitoring technology, and your pet's
comfort and security are always maintained.
At Solomon Veterinary Clinic,
we offer all of these features, along with a level of personalized
service and care. We invite you to learn more about the veterinary
surgical services we provide and the extensive safety protocols we
employ.
Our experienced surgeons are dedicated to
providing the best surgical experience and skill. Our veterinarians are
proficient at performing a wide range of procedures, including
everything from soft tissue and oral surgeries to advanced orthopedic
repairs.
Some of the more common soft tissue procedures we
perform include spay and neuter, tumor removal, bladder, abdominal
exploratory and bloat surgeries, as well as some ocular surgeries. Our
oral surgeries range from tooth extractions and oral tumor removals to
jaw fracture repairs.
We also offer many veterinary
orthopedic surgeries, such as bone fracture, hip and knee repairs.
Should your pet require surgical care that extends beyond our areas of
expertise, we will happily refer you to our network of board-certified
surgeons or ophthalmologists.
Your pet's safety is our
number one priority. Before any surgery, a thorough presurgical physical
examination by a veterinarian is performed and a comprehensive
preoperative blood screening through our in-house laboratory is
conducted. This is to confirm that your pet's organs and systems are
healthy enough for us to proceed.
Our veterinarians will
then specially tailor anesthetics to suit your pet's unique health
needs. Intravenous fluids can be utilized to administer these and other
necessary medications, as well as to ensure your pet is kept hydrated
before, during and after the procedure. This is just the first phase of
our safety protocols.
Our surgical suites are fully
equipped with advanced technology, enabling us to appropriately monitor
and care for your pet throughout his or her procedure. We will use
electrocardiography and a Doppler blood pressure machine to monitor your
pet's heart rhythm, electrical impulses, rate and blood pressure. A
pulse oximeter and capnograph will be used to ensure that appropriate
blood gas levels are maintained.
In order to make your pet
more comfortable and maintain his or her body temperature, we will
utilize heated water blankets. Your pet's temperature also will be taken
every five to 10 minutes throughout the procedure as a further safety
precaution.
Being in a veterinary hospital can be
stressful for pets, especially when they are about to undergo surgery.
One of the ways we ease their discomfort is by having a dedicated
veterinary technician stay by their side throughout every step of the
procedure. This way, when a pet is awakening from anesthesia, a
comforting and familiar face will greet him or her. In addition, our
experienced veterinary professional will ensure that the pet patient
remains calm and doesn't do anything that may cause harm.
Our
personalized care isn't just limited to our patients; we will provide
it to you as well! As soon as the surgical procedure is over, your pet's
veterinary surgeon will call with a full report. This way you will have
the information as soon as it's available. We will do everything
possible to provide you and your pet with the very best of care.
When
your pet is ready to go home, we will review your postoperative care
and medication instructions. If any questions arise after your pet
returns home or at any other time during the postoperative period, call
us. We welcome your questions and will do all we can to help your pet
recover fully. Help is only a phone call away.
