Meet Our Team

Dr. Cody Balok was raised in Gallup, New Mexico.  Cody received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from New Mexico State University in 1995, received his Masters of Science in Ruminant Nutrition from University of Nevada at Reno in 1997, followed by a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2001.  Cody met his wife, Jessica, while attending veterinary school at CSU.   After practicing at Cedar Animal Medical Center for three years the couple purchased the practice in 2004.  He enjoys small animal medicine and surgery, with a particular interest in small animal orthopedics.  Cody and Jessica are the proud parents of two active boys.  When he isn’t working, he enjoys time with his family and team roping.    

Dr. Jessica Balok was born and raised in Maryland.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Equine Science from Colorado State University in 1997, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2001.  Her special interests include small animal internal medicine and surgery, ultrasound and ophthalmology.  

Dr. David Manuelito was born and raised in Tohatchi, New Mexico.  He received his Bachelors of Science in Animal Science from New Mexico State University in 2004 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2008.  Dr. Manuelito completed an equine residency at Thal Equine in Santa Fe before coming to Cedar Animal Medical Center in 2009.  Gifted in both small and large animal medicine and surgery, David’s special interests are equine medicine and dentistry.  Away from work he enjoys spending time with his wife & children, riding his horses, and helping with the family ranch. 

Dr. Emily Spulak is from Bosque Farms, New Mexico and received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from University of Notre Dame in 2013.  She then received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2017.  She has since been a valued part of Cedar Animal with a strong interest in small animal medicine.  When not at work she enjoys riding her horses.
