Allenstown Animal Hospital is a full service, primary care, veterinary clinic.  We have been providing pet health care at our facility for residents of Allenstown and surrounding communities for over 34 years.  We are conveniently located midway between Concord and Manchester, NH, on Route 28 just off of Route 3.

We offer a wide range of medical services to provide your beloved pets with the best medical care possible. Services provided by Doctors Suzan Watkins and Christine O'Connell include such essentials as:

  • Preventative Medicine - We  create a personalized preventative wellness program for each pet we see based on their "lifestyle".  Wellness exams, vaccinations, pest and parasite prevention and other measures all help your pet avoid many common diseases and disorders.

  • Diagnostic Services - Our in-house laboratory lets us perform a variety of diagnostic tests quickly and accurately.  We also have daily courier pickup from a national diagnostic laboratory when additional testing is required.  We also offer in-house digital radiology for enhanced image quality, lower radiation exposure and instant results that can be viewed or shared electronically. Electrocardiology helps us evaluate your pet's heart health.  Ultrasound services are available at our facility by a traveling, board-certified veterinarian.

  • Dietary Counseling - Improper diet can cause or contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoarthritis, allergic reactions and liver/kidney disease. We offer dietary recommendations so your pet receives the correct amount of food as well as proper nutrition. Specialized prescription diets are available for allergies and other medical conditions.

  • Bathing - Whether your pet needs a special therapeutic or medicated bath or simply needs routine cleaning to remove excessive dirt and skin oils, Allenstown Animal Hospital will be happy to oblige.

  • Radiology - Our in-house digital x-ray system allows us to take high quality radiographic images of your pet.  Results can be shared with you in the exam room as well as emailed to specialists when required.

  • Surgery - Our surgical services range from preventative care such as spaying or neutering to complex soft tissue and orthopedic repair.  Non-routine surgery from TPLO surgery to repair knees with ruptured ligaments to soft tissue procedures ranging from tumor removal to complex exploratory procedures are performed in-house.

  • Dentistry -  It is estimated that over 75% of pets over the age of 3 years suffer from some sort of periodontal disease. We perform regular dental examinations at your pet's annual visit.  Routine cleanings are performed when necessary to remove tartar that leads to periodontal disease.  Digital oral x-rays are included with all dental cleanings to determine if any underlying problems exist under the gum line.  Extractions are performed if necessary to remove decayed teeth. If your pet suffers a dental infection or injury, we will be happy to provide the appropriate treatment.

  • Behavioral Counseling - Behavioral problems such as barking, chewing, aggression and inappropriate elimination can be corrected with the help of our behavioral counseling services. We can also figure out whether your pet's misbehavior actually stems from an underlying medical issue that requires treatment.

  • Emergency Services - We can perform a variety of emergency services, from poison control to surgery, during our regular office hours. We also have an after-hours resource we can refer you to at all other times.

  • In-House Pharmacy - If your pet needs pain relievers, flea/tick preventatives or other medication, our in-house pharmacy can save you an extra errand. We keep a wide range of products in stock at all times.

  • Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

  • Electrocardiology Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

  • Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
