It's Cold Outside:

Inside Pets: If you need a coat, so does your pet. Short-haired dogs and cats don't have winter coats. They need a coat/sweater or boots when going outside. Don't leave them out for long.

Outside Pets: Provide suitable shelter from the wind and cold. Don't let their water freeze. They will need extra food since they are burning more calories trying to stay warm. 

Foods:

Chocolate: The darker the chocolate, the more toxic it is to our pets.

Bones from turkey and other meats cause constipation, and they can also splinter and puncture internal organs.

Fatty foods can lead to pancreatitis. 

Sugar-Free foods, candy, gum containing xylitol can cause vomiting, lethargy, seizures and liver failure. 

Any form of alcohol depresses the nervous system and can cause coma and seizures.

Human medications can damage red blood cells, cause gastrointestinal ulceration, and cause liver and kidney failures. 

Decorations:

Chewing on electrical cords can result in electrocution.

The fireplace can cause serious burns.

Ingesting poinsettias, mistletoe, and holly can result in vomiting, diarrhea or heart arrhythmia. 

Liquid potpourri oils are toxic to cats and may cause chemical burns. 

Christmas tree lights and ornaments are choking hazards, as are tinsel and ribbons, which can also become tangled in the intestines. 

Other:

Anti-freeze ingestion can lead to kidney failure and death.

Batteries used in kids' toys and electronics can cause an obstruction and esophageal burns.
