Fall is here with cooler weather, falling leaves, and cozy breezes. The holidays are just around the corner which means family gatherings, themed sweaters, and many savory and sweet treats. As we wish you all a happy holiday season, it is important to remember to be mindful of your pets who also tend to try to take part in the holiday treats. Remember, any kind of chocolate is toxic (especially dark or bakers), grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, macadamia nuts, yeast dough, and xylitol (chewing gum and other foods). Each year at Middletown Animal Hospital we see animals who discover the pound of chocolate wrapped under the tree or find the dessert left on the counter. It is important to have your pet seen as soon as possible if you think they have ingested a toxicity. Enjoy fall and all the fun that is to come!
