Therapeutic Laser - Pain Relief Alternative

The Prior Lake Pet Hospital is proud to offer the using a  therapeutic laser to help heal our patients – Inflamed tissue, Degenerate joints, Scarred, Post-Surgical areas, and generally unhealthy tissues. 

The main use of the laser therapy is to increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair, provide pain relief; resolve inflammation, improve function of damaged neurologic tissue, and often, allow us to decrease the amount of medication an animal needs to take. 

The light laser penetrates tissue down to the cellular level which stimulates each individual cell to revitalize and reactivate it’s own healing process.

One of the ways this occurs is by the stimulation of endorphin release.  These endorphins attach to the same receptor in the brain as morphine which helps abolishes pain. The therapeutic laser can be used to stimulate and encourage healing in tendons, ligaments, muscles, nerves, skin, joints, and the outer layer of bone.  

Some of the most common disorders that we have seen amazing results include; Arthritis, hip dysplasia, neurologic paresis, lick granulomas, hot spots, ear inflammation, wound healing, and post surgical pain relief and increased healing (i.e. spay, neuter, orthopedic procedures, etc.).

Depending on the condition, an animal may benefit from just one treatment!  Many long term conditions (arthritis, lick granulomas) often require several sessions followed by a regular maintenance program.
