Dr. Bob TurrouOwner, Veterinarian
Dr. Bob Turrou’s family always had pets while he was growing up, and young Bobby, as Dr. Turrou was called, simply had an affinity with them that none of his three sisters could manage. After raising and training dogs throughout his youth, he realized that only one college major would keep him truly satisfied: veterinary medicine!
Dr. Turrou—or Dr. Bob, as he’s often affectionately called by his staff and clients—was born in northern Virginia, but lived in various areas of the world growing up because of his father’s career in the U.S. Army. He enrolled in pre-veterinary courses at Texas A&M University after high school, then earned his DVM degree from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where he would later meet his wife. Dr. Turrou spent three years in the U.S. Army’s Veterinary Corps after graduating, then opened Redlands Pet Clinic in the summer of 1975.As a veterinarian, Dr. Bob is particularly fond of dentistry and has undergone advanced training in dentistry. He says he might even have become a board-certified veterinary dentist if he had the chance to do it all over again! One of his favorite parts of his job, though, is his clients—Dr. Turrou considers many of them his personal friends.Outside of his interests in the veterinary world, Dr. Bob is an avid hiker and spends many of his summers hiking Colorado’s “14’ers,” or 14,000-foot mountains. He lives with his wife and their friendly cat, Oscar.
