  • Dr. Tyler Udenberg, DACVD®
    Vancouver, St. Albert
    Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (DACVD®) since 2014.

    Dr. Udenberg is originally from Vernon, BC. In 2009, he received his veterinary degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, SK. After that he completed a rotating internship and dermatology internship at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He subsequently completed a residency program with the Animal Dermatology Clinic in Southern California. His special interests include allergy management and autoimmune diseases. Veterinary medicine is a family profession. His father has been a practicing veterinarian since 1974 while his mother was the practice manager. His sister is an Animal Health Technologist who specializes in emergency and critical care.

  • Dr. Vincent Defalque, DACVD®
    Victoria - Fluent in French
    Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (DACVD®) since 2006.

    Dr. Defalque graduated from the University of Liège in Belgium in 2001. He then completed a small animal internship at Vet’Agro Sup in France, and a veterinary dermatology residency at Michigan State University.  Dr. Defalque is a Past-President of the Canadian Academy of Veterinary Dermatology (CAVD), and currently serves as the Canadian representative at the World Association for Veterinary Dermatology (WAVD). His special interests include parasites, ear diseases as well as feline dermatology.

  • Dr. Jay Korbelik, BVSc, MSc, DACVD®
    Vancouver, Surrey
    Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (DACVD®) since 2019.

    Dr. Korbelik graduated with honors from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in December of 2008. He returned to Canada, where he completed a small animal rotating internship at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Korbelik practiced as a veterinarian in his home town of Vancouver for 5 years. In August of 2015, he decided to pursue his passion for dermatology and completed a veterinary dermatology residency with Dr. Tony Yu. He concurrently completed a Master of Science in Pathobiology at the University of Guelph. His area of interest is how the cutaneous microbiota is altered by disease states. He now lives with his two cats (Luke and River), dog (Summer) and horse (That's Annie) in Vancouver.

  • Dr. Allison Cox, DACVD®
    St. Albert
    Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (DACVD®) since 2020.

    Dr. Cox is originally from Cranbrook, BC and lived in northern BC prior to veterinary school. She received her veterinary degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, SK in 2009, graduating with distinction. Initially following veterinary school, Dr. Cox spent almost 4 years providing emergency care to pets in Edmonton, also serving as part of the care team for internal medicine, cardiology, and surgery patients after hours. Dr. Cox returned to general practice in 2013 and spent a few years caring for multiple species (cats, dogs and exotic small pets including reptiles). It was during this time that she also acquired a special interest for managing skin diseases in particular, as they presented both a diagnostic and treatment challenge. When the opportunity to pursue boarded specialization within the field of veterinary dermatology arose, Dr. Cox jumped at the chance. She is thrilled to be working with North West Veterinary Dermatology Services to enhance her education within the field as she pursues her specialty. Veterinary medicine is a life-long passion for Dr. Cox, and she is excited to provide the next-level in care for her patients in this field.

  • Dr. Jenifer Baker, BVM&S
    Dermatology resident
    St. Albert

    Dr. Baker, originally from Alberta, received her veterinary degree from the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Scotland in 2020. Upon completing her degree she returned to Alberta to work in general practice for a year, before completing a rotating internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island. She is excited to start her journey into veterinary dermatology with North West Veterinary Dermatology Services and looks forward to helping diagnose and manage skin disease in her patients!

  • Dr. Joseph Cordonier, BVetMed
    Dermatology resident
    Vancouver

    Dr. Cordonier is a born and raised Vancouverite. He finished his undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia before moving to London, England where he completed his veterinary degree at the Royal Veterinary College in 2021. After graduation, Joe moved to Calgary to complete a rotating internship at VCA Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre. Joe has worked in many spheres of animal care including multiple small animal clinics, mixed animal practice and the Vancouver Aquarium. During university, Joe used to compete in competitive volleyball representing both UBC and Canada. He has a passion for travel, hiking, biking, playing tennis or anything outdoors related. Joe is excited to join the team at North West Veterinary Dermatology Services and looks forward to helping both clients and patients alike in his home city. 

  • Dr. Venessa Wong, BVM&S
    Dermatology resident
    Vancouver - Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin

    Dr. Wong is originally from Hong Kong. She finished her undergraduate at the University of British Columbia, and graduated from veterinary school at the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Scotland in 2020. After graduation, she relocated to Prince George to work as a general practitioner for 2 years, before returning to Vancouver to complete a rotating internship at Canada West Veterinary Specialist. She met the team at NWVDS during the elective weeks of her internship, and this experience reinforced her interest and passion in dermatology, and the decision to pursue specialty training. She is delighted to be part of the team and help improve the quality of life of both patients and pet owners. Outside of work, she enjoys escape games, board games, yoga, and baking.

  • Lisa - Practice Manager
    Vancouver

    Lisa joined our practice in November 2016 after an absence from the veterinary field while she was raising her children. She studied Business Administration at Capilano College and has many years of experience in office management, including operating her own company. She is pleased to return to what she loves: working with people who share her love for animals. Lisa enjoys skiing, exploring the mountains with her dog, and camping all over BC.

  • Mallory - Assistant Manager
    St. Albert

    Mallory is a 2013 graduate from the Veterinary Medical Assistant program at NAIT. Her entire career has been spent in specialty and emergency veterinary medicine, fulfilling her passion for patient care and client service. She joined the NWVDS team in October 2021 and has loved every minute of it. Mallory enjoys yoga, movies, and camping adventures with her goofy Shepherd mix, Deeg.

  • Alysha, RVT - Patient Care
    St. Albert

    Alysha is originally from a small town in Ontario and just recently made the big move to Alberta. Alysha graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at St. Clair College in 2019 and has spent the majority of her career in emergency medicine. She joined the North West Veterinary Dermatology Services team in March 2022 and is excited to learn all of the things that dermatology has to offer. In her free time, you will find Alysha walking around the neighbourhood with her little white dog Callie or snuggled up on the couch with her cute kitten, Mika. 

  • Amber, Veterinary Nurse - Patient Care
    Vancouver, Surrey

    Amber has been a veterinary nurse for over 30 years and is extremely excited to join the NWVDS team to help our fur friends. Her work has always brought pets into her life and she currently has 2 cats, Herbie and Jojo and a dog Obi Wan. Recently she has picked up the reptile hobby and is extremely proud of her 3 ball pythons as well as her daughter's 2. Amber's greatest hobby is her Shotokan Karate martial arts, which she has worked very hard at to attain her black belt. On top of all this she has 3 children and partakes in the game of airsoft with her husband just to add a little extra fun to their already very busy lives.

  • Claire, RVT - Patient Care
    Vancouver

    Claire grew up in London, Ontario and graduated from the University of Guelph as a Veterinary Technician in 2011. She worked in small animal practice before deciding to travel. Claire landed in Australia and lived there for 7 years before returning to Canada with her 2 cats, Penny and Harry. She joined the NWVDS team in June 2022 and is excited to learn more about dermatology. In her spare time, she loves scuba diving, hiking, camping and of course, exploring the world.

  • Emma, RVT - Patient Care
    St. Albert

    Emma knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals, and started volunteering at a veterinary clinic in junior high school. She continued to volunteer and work weekends while pursuing other career paths, but eventually made her way back into the veterinary profession. Emma graduated from NAIT's Animal Health Technology program in 2015. She spent some time in general practice before joining the team at North West Veterinary Dermatology Services in April 2022. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and spending time with her husband and fur baby, Bossk.

  • Lori, RVT - Patient Care
    Vancouver

    Originally from Toronto, Lori moved to Vancouver to explore her curiosity of the Pacific Northwest. She graduated from Douglas college in 2015 and worked at a specialty cat practice before joining the NWVDS team in the spring of 2018. Lori is passionate about animal welfare, low stress/fear free handling, nutrition and overall wellness and preventive care. On Mondays you may see her down the hall at North West Nuclear Medicine, helping cure hyperthyroid cats. In her spare time Lori volunteers with Paws for Hope, Community Vet Outreach and various other organizations. Lori & her partner also spend a remarkable amount of time doting over their two beloved kitties, Maia & Ellie.

  • Matthew, Veterinary Assistant - Patient Care
    Vancouver

    Matt joined our Veterinary Dermatology team in the spring of 2016. He is a graduate of the Veterinary Assistant program from Granville college. He has an extensive background in customer service which has lead him to North West Veterinary Dermatology Services. Matt's spare time is spent with his partner and their two dogs Abby & Dax, discovering beautiful British Columbia.

  • Michelle, Veterinary Assistant - Patient Care
    Vancouver

    Michelle joined our North West Veterinary Dermatology Services team in February 2017. Michelle completed the Veterinary Assistant program at Vancouver Community College and brings with her a commitment to provide the best possible care to our patients. She actively seeks to expand her knowledge in the field and has extensive experience with hands on animal care. In her off time, Michelle can be found walking her rambunctious poodle cross, Daisy, or explaining medical terminology to her boyfriend.

  • Karin - Client Services
    St. Albert

    Karin was raised in St. Albert and, since she graduated from high school, has worked in animal care and client services. After completing a music degree at MacEwan University she realized that she missed working with animals and joined the NWVDS team in November 2020. She has loved learning specifically about helping allergic pets. Karin spends her free time practicing yoga and hiking the many mountains that Alberta has to offer.

  • Rhea - Laboratory Assistant
    Vancouver

    Rhea was born and raised in the heart of Dubai until she decided to move to more rainy pastures, making her way to Vancouver in 2017. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia with a Bachelors in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, she joined the team at North West Veterinary Dermatology Services where she rediscovered her passion for animal advocacy. She enjoys being able to integrate her biochemical skillset into immune-modulating therapy to ensure an itch-free journey for her furry four-legged friends. When she is off the clock, you may find her embracing her passion for cooking, hooked onto true-crime podcasts or planning her next travel destination!
