Dr.Wayne M. Johnson, VMDVeterinarian
As a veterinarian, I especially enjoy surgery, educating owners and children on how to keep their pets healthy, the fun of puppy and kitten visits, and making elderly patients feel like puppies and kittens again. I have had post-graduate training in medicine, surgery, endoscopy, ultrasound, laser surgery, therapeutic laser, and reptile medicine.
I am proud to be a member of the Noblemen, a philanthropic organization that raises money for special needs children in the Tidewater area. Additionally, I helped to form the NoblePets branch of the organization. I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
When I'm not working at the hospital or working at home assisting my wife and my son in their duties as local wildlife rehabilitators, I love to fish and I enjoy writing. I finished my first Fantasy novel, which I would love to have published.
I have the most caring and amazingly wonderful staff members here at Birdneck Animal Hospital. I am very lucky to be surrounded by such a fantastic crew. Please feel free to stop by with or without your pet to meet us.

Ashley .Office Manager, Veterinary Technician
I am a native of Virginia Beach and Class of 2013 Alumni of Old Dominion University, where I received my B.S. in Biology with a Sociology Minor. I became a licensed Veterinary Technician in April of 2019, which I'm very proud of.
I love being a part of the Birdneck Animal Hospital team because I get to meet so many new clients and their furry (and some not so furry) children. I enjoy being around animals of all species and currently have many of my own. My husband, Nick, and I currently have four dogs (Potain, Penny, Cooper, and Penelope), five cats (Lucy, Yoda, TJ, Beethoven, and Francis), fish, two tarantulas, and a bearded dragon named Fred.

Adam .Veterinary Assistant
Growing up as a veterinarian's son I have always been around animals. I began working at Birdneck Animal Hospital as a summer job in high school, which developed into always working at least part-time (unless I was hours away at college) ever since. My mother and I have permits to rehabilitate orphaned/abandoned wildlife as well, which has given me an opportunity to meet and care for new kinds of animals including opossums, squirrels and raccoons. I'm very interested in animal behavior and enrichment, and hope to continue my work alongside the animal kingdom throughout my life.

Growing up in a military family, I moved around a lot when I was younger, but one thing that stayed the same was my love for animals. I love working at Birdneck Animal Hospital because I get to meet some new furry friends. I am an alumni of Old Dominion University's class of 2015 with a B.S. in Biology. I have a miniature schnauzer named, Monte.

I am from Boston Massachusetts and have been living in the Virginia beach area for the past 4 years with my boyfriend who is stationed at Oceana. Growing up I always had one or more dogs so my love for animals started at a very young age. I currently have three super hyper dogs named Turbo, Reagan, & Paisley who love going for car rides and cheering on the Patriots with me!

I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Virginia a few years ago. Since I can remember I've had a love for animals and after being in the workforce I knew my true passion was to work with animals. So I am currently going back to school to get my associates degree in Veterinary Technology. I met my charming and witty husband, Carl, we married in 2012. We are blessed with two beautiful and crazy kids. Throughout all of life's adventures, our furry companions has been there by our sides with their constant love and support!

I'm originally from a small town called Sandwich, MA, but have lived in VB for most of my life. I've been an animal lover my whole life. I started off working in kennels, and now I am happy to call BAH my saving grace with being a Veterinary Assistant. I live my life by three things: dogs, books, and Star Wars. I have two crazy dogs that always know how to keep me going: Annabelle Lee my 6 year old German Shorthaired Pointer and Ezekiel Noah my 7 year old Yellow Labrador.

I am originally from a small town in the mountains of northern Maryland, a few miles from Gettysburg Pennsylvania. Growing up, my house was known as the zoo because we owned hedgehogs, chinchillas, bearded dragons, hamsters, rabbits, birds, turtles, frogs, dogs, and cats. My greatest accomplishment as a pet owner was hatching and raising bearded dragons from eggs laid by my very own Lilo and Stitch. I recently graduated from the Batten Honors College at Virginia Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I currently live in Virginia Beach with my spunky and extremely lovey princess, Luna, while I await admission into medical school.
