What is the HomeAgain Microchip?

The HomeAgain microchip is a tiny chip (about the size of a grain of rice) is inserted between your pet’s shoulder blades. They are designed to last your pet’s entire lifetime, and once enrolled, they link to a permanent record of your owner information. Our microchipping fee also includes a year of membership with HomeAgain‘s complete pet recovery service, which includes: lost pet alerts to local animal hospitals and shelters, a 24/7 emergency medical hotline and travel assistance for found pets.

What is Spaying?

Spaying is the surgical removal of the ovaries (and often the uterus) through a small abdominal incision. From the ASPCA website: “Spaying helps prevent uterine infections and breast cancer, which is fatal in about 50 percent of dogs and 90 percent of cats. Spaying your pet before her first heat offers the best protection from these diseases.” Spaying your pet will also end her heat cycles and prevent unwanted pregnancies.

What is Neutering?

Neutering is the surgical removal of both testicles through a small incision in the scrotal sac. From the ASPCA website: “Besides preventing unwanted litters, neutering your male companion prevents testicular cancer, if done before six months of age.” Neutering also reduces male pets’ instinct to roam and mark their territory with urine and reduces the risk of prostrate disease.
