We are AAHA accredited!

The American Animal Hospital Association is the only organization that accredits small animal hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada. AAHA-accredited hospitals voluntarily choose to be evaluated on 900 standards. Veterinary hospitals accredited by AAHA must demonstrate an exceptional level of medical care and client service and they are re-evaluated every three years to make sure they are keeping up with industry updates.

Veterinary practices choose to become AAHA-accredited for a myriad of reasons, including the desire to improve practice operations and team building, update their skills, enhance their credibility with clients and strive for continuous improvement. Approximately 3,200 veterinary hospitals in the United States and Canada have made a commitment to meeting the highest standards of veterinary care.

Choosing an AAHA-accredited hospital assures pet owners that the hospital they select has the staff, equipment, medical procedures and facilities that AAHA believes are vital for delivering high-quality pet care.

Woodlake Animal Hospital excels in complete pet care and the science of veterinary medicine. We strive to keep your pet happy and healthy so that you can enjoy each other for many years.

Learn Who We Are

  • Dr.
    Leslie Ann Jones
    DVM/MVB/CVA

Dr. Leslie Ann Jones, DVM/MVB/CVA is originally from Water Mill, New York and she found her way to Richmond via a rather circuitous route. She did her undergraduate work at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, VA, and then she pursued a marine biology degree at Long-Island University, Southampton College. Dr. Jones was subsequently invited to attend University College-Dublin Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Dublin, Ireland. After five years on the Emerald Isle, and two years in upstate New York, she has found her way back 'home', to Virginia!

Her interests include alternative medicine, dermatology, behavioral medicine and nutrition. In her free time, Dr. Jones can be found in the barn (riding her OTTB, Sugar Smax and working with her rescue foal, Fraser 'The Highlander'), at the beach (swimming, fishing and kayaking), up a mountain (hiking and skiing), or gardening at her home. Her adventures are often shared by Godiva and Dugan, her Australian Shepard and Border Collie, Dugan. She also has three cats, Bailey, who came back from Ireland with Dr. Jones, and Aurora, and Athena, two twin lilac-point Siamese that were orphaned at Woodlake Animal Hospital the summer of 2017.

  • Dr.
    Megan Dayton

I grew up in Yorktown, VA but have lived in Richmond for the past 3 years and love it! I went to undergrad at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and received my bachelors in Animal Science. I then made my way to Oklahoma State to pursue my veterinary degree. I enjoyed the mid west but was glad to head back to the East Coast following graduation. My interests include surgery, dentistry, dermatology and preventative care. In my free time I love going to the beach (really anything to do with the water) especially with our labs, gardening and spending time with family and friends. I live in Richmond with Logan, my husband, and our 2 crazy Labradors, Chloe and Neptune.

  • Kristen Foster

Kristen is our head LVT and keeps things running smoothly in surgery and treatment. She is a Chesterfield native and attended Blue Ridge Community College to receive her Licensed Veterinary Technician certification. She brings her excellent technical skills and combines them with her bubbly and outgoing personality, and we are so happy she is here. There is never a dull moment and she keeps everyone smiling!

  • Chris Carlson

Chris was born and raised in Chesterfield and attended Cosby High School and the Chesterfield Technical Center for Veterinary Science. After attending Old Dominion University for Marine Biology, he returned home and joined the Woodlake Animal Hospital. In his free time, Chris can be found fishing the reservoir or golfing at Oasis and he has five cats, Sprite, Maverick, Tat, Mouse and Jack.

  • Roy Hernandez

Roy is also a Chesterfield native and went to Monacan High School. Upon graduation, Roy joined the Marine Corp until 2015 and during that time, pursued a mechanical career path. However, Roy realized that his heart has always been in the veterinary world, even since childhood, so has taken a “leap of faith” to join the Woodlake Animal Hospital team and pursue the path of a Licensed Veterinary Technician. We are delighted to have Roy as part of our Woodlake family.

  • Kaylee Green

Kaylee brings her positive, cheerful nature and her incredible crafting skills to Woodlake Animal Hospital. She grew up and still lives in Powhatan with her husband, one dog, and one cat. She is very involved with local and international missions. She has been to multiple states here in the US and has also worked with street children and at risk youth in Belize and Tanzania, Africa.

Kaylee has an interest in holistic, all natural lifestyles and medicine, and how they apply to both humans and animals. In her spare time, she can be found somewhere in nature, hiking, biking, camping, etc.

  • Bobby Becker

Bobby Becker is our Office Manager and we are delighted that he is part of our Woodlake Animal Hospital family. He graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and has been working as a non-licensed veterinary technician since 2000. He has experience in small animal practice with a focus in emergency and critical care medicine for the past 7 years. He recently relocated to the Richmond area and is excited to join the Woodlake Animal Hospital team.

In his time away from the office Bobby enjoys brewing beer, watching college football (Go 'Noles!'), playing board games with friends and traveling. He lives in Richmond, VA with his wife, son and their dog Cooper.

  • Olivia Stanley

Olivia joined the WAH team in the spring of 2016. She graduated from J Sargeant Reynolds in 2007 with a degree in Equine Science and Management. Animals are her passion and she has well versed experience working in the veterinary field, having previously worked at Deer Creek Equine and Baldwin Creek Animal Hospital. Olivia would like to expand her knowledge and abilities and is excited to be going back to school in 2017 to pursue her Veterinary Technician License.

Olivia lives in Chesterfield with her two dogs, CC and Peanut. . She also has an OTTB named Mac (Positively Macho) with whom she successfully competes in show jumping. She spends her off days teaching riding lessons or enjoying the outdoors.

  • Susan Justis

Susan is a Chesterfield native who joined Woodlake Animal Hospital while finishing her biology degree at VCU. Now that she's graduated, she's applying to veterinary school and hopes to follow in our Doctor's footsteps one day. She loves traveling, exploring Richmond and taking her dog, Iggy out and about on adventures.
