Microchips are a safe way to expect the unexpected.  You never know what might happen – from a maintenance professional leaving a door open for a few minutes to an accidentally unlatched gate – no one wants their pet to get out and get lost.  They are especially helpful around the holidays when you might be hosting family, traveling, or enjoying fireworks, which can scare pets. 

Microchips do not require a power source and are good for a lifetime.  It is a quick, simple procedure with minimal discomfort (the microchip is injected in between the shoulder blades with a syringe) and can usually be done while your pet is already in for an appointment, such as a spay or neuter.  The material is compatible with your pet’s body tissue and is rarely rejected.  The microchip does not move around or cause discomfort for your pet.  After your pet is microchipped, you receive paperwork to fill out in order to register your information with your pet’s microchip.  This information is easy to update if you change your phone number.
