Meet Our Team

Dr. John Zavaro received his B.S. from the University of Kentucky in 1998 and his DVM from Auburn University in 2003.  He started Healthy Petz in January of 2008.  Dr. Zavaro is a member of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Zavaro enjoys raising cattle and riding horses on his farm with his wife,daughter and son.  His extended family include his cat named Catfish, a French Bulldog named Soleil, three golden retrievers named Kula, Flair, and Gauge.  As you can see, the love for animals is deeply woven into his professional, family life and recreation.

Dr. Amy Mueller, originally from Southeast Missouri, received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2001 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, both from the University of Missouri (MIZ-ZOU!). She practiced as a mixed animal veterinarian in western Kansas for 3 years before relocating to beautiful Colorado where she has focused solely on small animal medicine for 6 years.

Dr. Mueller moved to the area to be closer to family and friends. She enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, boating, and hiking. She looks forward to meeting you and your furry companions.

Dr. Carrie Grace performed her undergraduate studies at Murray State University and graduated from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Grace received her certification in Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute in 2006.

Dr. Grace enjoys spending family time with her husband and two boys, as well as gardening, fishing and reading as time allows. Dr Grace has lived in the Spring Hill community for 12 years and attends Thompson Station Church. Her 'Fur Children' consist of her Corgis, Birdee and Rumple and her cats, Dillon and Smelly Cat.

Dr. Anne Rigsby received her B.S. in Animal Science in 2002 and her DVM in 2006, both from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She practiced for 9 years in Nashville before coming to Healthy Petz in 2016. She enjoys treating both companion animals as well as exotic pets.

Dr. Rigsby and her family love the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with their two dogs Saber the English Mastiff and Banks the whippet mix. 

Dr. Fountain was born and raised in Georgia. and earned her Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Tulane University. After falling in love with New Orleans (and the New Orleans Saints), she started veterinary school at St. Georges University on the south Caribbean island of Grenada. Dr. Fountain worked hard and was able to transfer into her second year at Oklahoma State Center of Veterinary Sciences. Here, she found her love for cowgirl boots and country music. After graduation, she completed and internship and practiced in Los Angeles, CA. Fate would bring her to Nashville to visit a friend and go to a conference where she saw that Healthy Petz was looking for a new doctor. Dr. Fountain met the team and decided to pack her bags and head to Tennessee! Her interests include soft tissue surgery, radiology, and preventative medicine.

She lives in Nashville with her partner Ryan and her kitty partner in crime Layla Danger Mittens. Outside of work, Dr. Fountain loves the outdoors, yoga, metal work, and travel.

Anastasia, Dr. John Zavaro's sister, has been the practice manager since Healthy Petz opened in January 2008. She grew up in the KY and TN area and also lived in Los Angeles for 14 years pursing her love of acting. Besides interests in horseback riding and music, Anastasia is often seen on stage in local theatre productions or behind the scenes directing or producing community theatre. She lives on 15 acres with her husband and their three cats.
