Surgery

Sooner or later during your four-legged best friend’s lifetime, the need for some type of surgery will likely arise, whether it’s for a routine procedure like a spay or neuter, or something more complex and medically necessary. The surgical team at Western Hills Animal Medical & Surgical Clinic understands just how difficult and stressful bringing your four-legged family member in for surgery can be for you both, which is why we work so very hard to make each surgical experience as stress-free as possible. We want you to feel confident that when you entrust your companion to us for surgery, he or she will be in excellent hands!

Our veterinarians are highly skilled and trained in all the most modern surgical techniques and are available to perform a broad range of surgical services. Above all else, every member of our surgical team will place your fur baby’s safety and comfort as our top priority, from our doctors to our technicians and assistants, to our compassionate support team. We never want your fur baby to be placed at risk, so we take every precaution to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible, from the moment you drop your fur baby off at the time you arrive to bring them home again.

Should your fur baby need surgery, we’ll first conduct a thorough physical exam, including diagnostic testing to determine whether he or she is healthy enough to proceed. Once your fur baby is cleared for surgery, we’ll then work on developing a customized pain management plan that will be specifically tailored to your fur baby and will help ensure that he or she remains as comfortable as possible during the procedure. We use only the safest anesthetic products which are carefully administered by our experienced veterinary technicians.

During surgery, we’ll keep a close eye on your companion by monitoring his or her vital signs, such as oxygen flow, heart rate, and blood pressure. Our highly skilled surgical team will be on hand at all times, using modern equipment, to ensure your fur baby’s optimum safety and comfort, before, during and following surgery.

Some of the veterinary surgical services available to patients of Western Hills Animal Medical & Surgical Clinic includes:

  • Spays/Neuters
  • Soft Tissue Surgeries
  • Orthopedic Procedures

When your companion’s surgery is complete, he or she will be carefully relocated to our comfortable recovery area where we will continue to monitor them closely. One of our staff members will reach out to you to let you know how everything went and to arrange for you to come pick up your four-legged best friend. Once you arrive, we’ll explain any post-surgical care instructions we may have, including an appropriate pain management plan that will allow your fur baby to recover as painlessly as possible once you return home.

In some cases, your fur baby may need a surgical procedure that requires the expertise of a veterinary surgeon that has more advanced or specified training than those on our team. In those instances, we will gladly provide you with a referral to one of the many board certified veterinary specialists with whom we have developed longstanding relationships. This allows us to ensure that our patients continue to receive the best available care at all times.

If your fur baby requires surgery, don’t panic. The team at Western Hills has been in your shoes, and we’re well equipped to handle just about any situation. We’ll have your fur baby fixed up and feeling better again in no time!
