Radiology uses an x-ray beam to painlessly penetrate the body and take a snapshot of the targeted body part, transmitting it onto a piece of radiographic film. An experienced veterinarian can then review and interpret the image, looking for any inconsistencies or abnormalities that might be causing problems for your fur baby. X-rays can be used to examine how the skeletal system looks, as well as evaluate the internal systems such as the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, heart, and genitourinary system.
