General Surgery:

Dr. Brown in Surgery

At Meeker Animal Hospital, we do everything we can to ensure that your pet's surgical experience is a good one. Whether it is a routine spay or neuter, a more advanced procedure, or an emergency surgery, all patients get IV catheters placed regardless. We also offer and highly recommend in house blood work for all surgical procedures. This allows us to make sure your pet's system is functioning like it should and will not have problems clearing the anesthetic drugs after the procedure is over. We also think that pain medication is a very important part to any surgical procedure. We not only administer pain medication before your pet's procedure to ensure they do not wake up in pain, but we also send home the proper pain medication so your loved one will be comfortable in the days to follow the surgery.

Orthopedic and soft tissue surgery:

Here at Meeker Animal Hospital we also have Dr. Dustin Brown providing us with more advance services. We are here to provide your pet with a surgery service at a reasonable cost. Dr. Dustin Brown will be preforming orthopedic services as in TPLO, Corrective Bone Osteotomy,  Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) repair, Patellar Luxation, Femoral Head Osteotomy, SI luxation, Gastropexy, Condylar screw and much more. All orthopedic procedures are required to have a consultation exam prior to surgery, a treatment plan and estimate for the cost of the procedure will be provided at that time. If your primary doctor has referred your pet to see Dr. Brown our receptionist and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. All geriatric or patients showing potential signs of disease are required to have blood work done before surgery. This blood work ensures that your pet is healthy enough for surgery and will process the anesthetics properly. Geriatric patients are any small to medium breed dogs that are over 7 years old, large to giant breeds that are over 5 years old, and any cat over 7 years old.
Pre-anesthetic blood work include a CBC (complete blood count) which checks for infection, anemia, dehydration, and clotting problems.
