What Should I Expect at an Emergency Animal Hospital?
The first thing that will happen is that we will check you in as quickly as possible and immediately determine if your pet needs medication or treatments to alleviate their pain or condition. We don't wait until after examination to administer pain meds in case of painful trauma or broken bones because we don't believe your beloved pet should have to suffer another minute and we will immediately stabilize them as needed. They will be examined and we will discuss with you our plan to reach a diagnosis.
With your approval, we will perform the necessary tests. Then the doctor will sit down with you to discuss the details of your pet's condition and the best treatment to make your pet well again.
What happens if my pet needs emergency surgery?
If your pet needs to undergo surgery, we will explain everything in detailwith you and with your approval, begin the procedure. We will make you as comfortable as possible and if you choose to leave the facility, we will provide you with updates and you are always welcome to call to receive updates on your precious pet. Once your pet is stable, you are more than welcome to visit them in the hospital.
How long will my pet need to stay in the emergency hospital?
If the doctor recommends that it would be best for your pet to stay in hospital for treatment, rest assured that your pet will have personalized attention during his or her entire stay. Our dedicated and experienced emergency staff will monitor your pet's progress constantly and make vital adjustments as required. The average stay can be overnight or if longer care is needed, we are open from noon Saturday to Monday morning at 8 a.m. At that time, a full, detailed report will be sent to your regular veterinarian so they are kept up to date. Based on the severity of your pet's condition, the medical team may take your pet immediately to the treatment area. If other pets are in the clinic, all cases will be stabilized and prioritized based on the nature of their emergencies. The most critical patients will be seen first.
