Meet Our Team


Dr. Rick Odegard, Veterinarian 

Dr. Rick Odegard graduated from Iowa State University in 1982 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.  He worked for a year at Forx Veterinary Clinic in Grand Forks, and then was in Williston at Western Veterinary Clinic for 2 years.  He returned to Grand Forks in 1985 to purchase Forx Veterinary Clinic and renamed it Kindness Animal Hospital.  He is married to Diane and they have 3 children and 5 grand children.  He is a member of the AVMA and NDVMA, has served as first vice president and president of the NDVMA, and was formally a member of the ND Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for 6 years. Dr. Odegard is certified to perform TPLO surgeries and has a strong interest in orthopedic surgery as well as general veterinary medicine and surgery.
 




Dr. Krista Terrill, Veterinarian

Dr. Terrill was born and raised in North Dakota. She graduated from NDSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology before attending veterinary school at Iowa State University, where she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2020. She then returned to the great state of North Dakota to start her career at Kindness Animal Hospital. Dr. Terrill has special interests in preventative care, surgery, and feline medicine. She also plans to see exotics in the future! Dr. Terrill strives to provide the best medical practices and care to your furry companions. When she’s not at the hospital she’s most likely watching HGTV and spending time with her husband Harrison, their two cats, Willow and Olive, and dogs Finnigan and Georgia.

Dr. Emmett LaCoursiere, Veterinarian

Dr. LaCoursiere was born in Red Lake Falls, MN. He graduated from UMC-Crookston with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2015, then attended the University of Missouri for veterinary school. He graduated in 2019 and joined Kindness Animal Hospital in 2020. Dr. LaCoursiere has a special interest in both routine and emergency surgeries. He also enjoys the work up and treatments involved with medicine cases. In his free time, Dr. LaCoursiere enjoys hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors.

Jan Homstad, Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Jan graduated from the Medical Institute of Minnesota (MIM) in 1973 with a certification in Veterinary Technology. Jan has been a true pioneer of veterinary technology. Jan was licensed to practice veterinary technology in 1980 (the first time the state offered veterinary technology licensing) in the state of North Dakota. She celebrated her 35 year anniversary at Kindness in July 2020. Jan is also a member of the North Dakota Veterinary Technician Association (NDVTA), where she has served as Treasurer, and was the North Dakota Veterinary Technician of the Year for 2001. She lives in Grand Forks and has kept busy with two granddaughters.

Chelsea Lupien, Hospital Practice Manager

Chelsea was born and raised in the Red River Valley and has been in the Grand Forks area for the last 15 years. When she is not busy running the practice, she can be found volunteering in various philanthropic ways or spending time with her family.




 

Brianna Forster, Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)

Brianna started at Kindness in September 2006. She grew up in Litchfield, MN and attended Ridgewater College in Wilmar, MN where she graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. She interned at Lake Region Veterinary Center in Elbow Lake, MN with an emphasis on Equine Studies. She is a member of the NDVTA. She enjoys barrel racing and spending time with her family, husband Matt, Issac, and daughter Addison.

Clarisa Albrecht, Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Clarisa joined the Kindness team in June of 2017. She is originally from Pembina, ND. She graduated from Globe University in Moorhead, MN in 2017. She interned at Agassiz Animal Hospital in Park River, ND. She is a member of the NDVTA. She has a yellow Labrador Retriever dog named Ruby and a cuddly cat named Dexter. Clarisa plays softball in the summer and enjoys spending time with her family.

 Bailey Kleinschmidt, Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Bailey Kleinschmidt

Bailey joined the Kindness team as an intern in June of 2020.  She officially became certified in August of 2021.  She enjoys spending her time traveling to see her family in Minnesota and spending time with her chonky cat, Monty.  

 

Lynn Pachl, Customer Service Representative 

Lynn joined Kindness Animal Hospital in 2010 as a part time receptionist after retiring from her previous job.  She had been a client at Kindness Animal Hospital for more than 25 years.  She is married to Jeremy and her family consists of a French Bulldog, Buzz, a Yorkie, Fred, and two adorable cats, Bob and Rocket.

Shelby, Lead Customer Service Representative 

Shelby has been with the Kindness team since April 2021. Born and raised in Grand Forks, Shelby enjoys UND Hockey and spending time with her family. She has a silver lab named Maggie who gives her headaches but she wouldn't trade her for anything.
