Our Veterinarians

William R. Niederee, D.V.M.

Dr. Niederee is orginally from Great Bend, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1987 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1989.  He spent two years in a multi-doctor practice in Scott City, Kansas before returning to his hometown of Great Bend.

Dr. Niederee and his wife, Robin have three daughters, Katlyn, Allison, and Sarah.  Also included are three dogs (Molly Jo, Aggie, and Zoie), two horses (Charlie, and Wilbur), and a countless number of farm cats.  In his free time, Dr. Niederee enjoys going to the lake, camping, snow and water skiing, riding horses, hunting, playing softball, and going to K-State football games.

Jerry L. Schrader, D.V.M.

Dr. Schrader, a native of Great Bend, graduated from Kansas State University in 1957 with degrees of Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.  His professional career spans 50 years--two years in Iowa and Arkansas, followed by most recent 48 years in his hometown, Great Bend.  He was selected as the 2013 Kansas Veterinarian of the Year by the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association.

After hours will find him spending 'quiet time' at home with Maggie May, an English Setter, visiting with friends and family, in Manhattan as a Wildcat fan, on a trout stream with a fly rod, or just being an old-fashioned homebody.

Sandi G. Hayek, D.V.M.

Dr. Hayek grew up on a farm south of Friend, Nebraska and graduated from Concordia University in Seward, NE with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 2006.  She then graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 from Iowa State University.  She moved to Great Bend shortly after graduation.

Dr. Hayek had a number of pets on the farm including dogs, chickens, and numerous cats.  She was also very active helping her family raise crops on the farm and cattle for the family's cow-calf herd.  Her interests lie with small animals and cattle, but is always open to new things.  In addition to her veterinary career and animal care, she enjoys playing softball and volleyball, singing, and enjoying the outdoors.

Gina M. VanLoenen, DVM

Dr. VanLoenen grew up in Bridgewater, New Jersey before making the move to Manhattan, Kansas where she received her Bachelor's Degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University.  Her love for veterinary medicine began growing up in 4-H showing sheep and horses.  In her spare time, Dr. VanLoenen can be found cooking, spending time with her lab Cooper, or fishing with her husband Eric.  She looks foward to serving the people and animals of Great Bend.
