National Pet Week is coming to an end this weekend and while most of us spoil our pets all year long, this is a time to do something extra for them. When it comes to pets, most people think about dogs, but what about the cats? Here are some ways that you can celebrate your cat for National Pet Week.
Make a Cake
Using only food you already have, you can easily make a cake fit for a cat! Simply empty a can of pate-style cat food onto a dish. Use a butter knife to help you get it out of the can whole. Then, use your cat’s favorite kibble to decorate the “cake” and you’re done, no potentially dangerous human food necessary.
Extra Pampering
Cats are creatures of comfort, so adding some cozy touches to her regular routine could be just the thing. Let in the sun by opening all the curtains or lay out fresh, warm sheets from the dryer in her favorite sunspot. Sprinkle catnip on her favorite blanket or give the litter box some extra TLC — it’s the little things that make cats happiest!
New Toys
With an endless choice of available cat toys to buy, it should be easy to find, or even make, a brand-new toy for your feline friend. Whether it likes active toys or something to cuddle up with, there's no better excuse than National Pet Week to add some new items to its already overflowing toy basket.
Cat Portrait
You've probably snapped plenty of selfies and random photos of your cat. Mark this National Pet Week and break out the portrait mode on your phone and have a more professional photograph taken of your cat with, and without, you. You'll cherish having a crisp, clear professional photo of your cat over time.
Go on an Adventure
Does your indoor cat seem to hanker for the outdoors? Use National Pet Week as a good excuse to try something new and go for a walk outside. Get a cat leash or harness that properly fits your feline. First, let your cat wander inside your home wearing the harness. Praise your cat constantly and be patient with your pet while it gets used to the harness. Slowly introduce your cat to the outdoors in a safe, enclosed area away from other animals.
