Veterinary Care Services in Herndon

Pet Health Services at Herndon Animal Medical CenterWhat does quality veterinary care mean to you? Which services are the most important in your eyes? At Herndon Animal Medical Center, we know that every patient is special, and each animal we treat has his or her own unique needs and preferences. We also know that veterinary care is not a one-size-fits-all service. That’s why we take a different approach to animal health care. Each patient that walks through our doors receives individual attention, personalized care and a customized health care plan that is tailored to suit their specific needs. This ensures that your pet will receive the best possible care with every visit.

We’ve developed a comprehensive suite of services that is designed to offer our patients support throughout their lives, addressing all of their changing health care needs along the way. This may mean a first round of vaccinations for your new puppy, an x-ray or lab test to monitor your adult cat’s ongoing health, a surgical procedure to correct a health problem, ongoing treatments to manage an existing medical condition, or specialized geriatric care to help your senior pet enjoy the golden years more comfortably.

Whatever your pet’s health care needs, at any given moment, we’ll be there to meet you right where you are and provide the appropriate care, treatment, procedure or advice to bring out the very best in your companion, every step of the way.

Wellness Care

At Herndon Animal Medical Center, we don’t want to only be there for you when your pet is sick or injured. Rather, we want to be proactive about preventing that illness or injury, and keeping your companion healthy and happy over time. This can be best accomplished through a commitment to wellness care. When you bring your pet in for a checkup once or twice a year, our veterinarians are able to manage both their present health, as well as their ongoing wellbeing. Wellness visits often allow us to identify potential problems before they have a chance to develop, vastly improving the chances of a positive outcome. You want what’s best for your pet, and so do we. Let our comprehensive wellness services help keep your companion happy and healthy, so you can both enjoy many more years of companionship.

Diagnostics

When your dog or cat isn’t feeling well, he or she can’t speak to tell you what’s wrong or explain where it hurts. What’s more, many companion animals have a high tolerance for pain, so recognizing the signs that something might be wrong can be difficult. That’s where veterinary diagnostics come into play. These invaluable tools – like blood work, x-rays and ultrasound imaging – allow our doctors to look below the surface of the skin and determine exactly what’s happening within your pet’s body. Because our pets can’t communicate, it’s up to us to be their voice and to identify, diagnose and address whatever may be ailing them in a timely and efficient manner. Herndon Animal Medical Center utilizes a broad range of diagnostic tools and cutting edge technologies to manage the ongoing health of our patients.

Surgery

Chances are, at some point during your pet’s lifetime, the need for surgery will arise. Regardless of whether it’s a simple, routine procedure, like a spay or neuter, or something more complex, at Herndon Animal Medical Center, we understand what a difficult and stressful experience this can be for both of you. We want to set your mind at ease. We take every surgical procedure we perform seriously and place the safety and comfort of our patients as our top priority. All surgeries are performed in-house, using the most modern equipment and technology and always adhering to the strictest standards of care. Rest assured that whatever your pet’s surgical needs, he or she will be well cared for with our surgical team. We’ll have them fixed up and on the road to a full and speedy recovery in no time!

Dentistry

Does your companion have bad breath? Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t just something you have to live with as a pet owner. In fact, bad breath can be a sign that your pet may be suffering from a serious dental problem. If not properly cared for, bacteria can form on your pet’s teeth and under the gum line, eventually leading to dental disease, a serious condition that affects many adult dogs and cats, and can wreak havoc throughout the entire body. The good news is, with the proper care and intervention, you can help your pet beat the odds and enjoy a lifetime of good oral health. Herndon Animal Medical Center has all of the professional pet dentistry services you need to keep your companion’s mouth fresh, clean and healthy for life!

Nutrition & Weight Management

Good nutrition and a healthy weight can help improve the chances of your pet living a long, healthy life. Feeding the proper diet will not only provide your pet with all of their nutritional needs, but it can also help improve performance and even manage existing medical conditions. Yet with so many products on the market, how can you know you’re giving your companion the right one? What about weight? Animals that are even just a few pounds overweight can be at a greater risk of developing a number of serious medical conditions, such as arthritis and diabetes. If you’re confused or could just use a little guidance, the team at Herndon Animal Medical Center can help! Let us develop a customized diet and exercise plan that will bring out the very best in your animal companion and help them achieve optimum health.

House Calls

At Herndon Animal Medical Center, we know you love your pet. We also know that sometimes, even the most caring, responsible pet parent may find it difficult to make it to the vet. Maybe your dog or cat is too sick to be transported, or suffers from anxiety, making trips to the clinic stressful for you both. Maybe you have a multi-pet home, and arranging several appointments can be challenging. Or, maybe you’re just simply too busy. It’s always our goal to make access to quality veterinary care as easy as possible for our clients, which is why we now offer the convenience of house calls. If you cannot come to us, we will come to you! Please call for further details if you are interested.

Companion Therapy Laser

We are very concerned about pain management in pets. In keeping with this theme in our clinic, we have added the latest technology for joint and soft tissue pain problems, the Companion Therapy Laser. This Laser reduces swelling in joints and soft tissues which dramatically reduces pain caused by the pressure.
