Michael Norris VMD

Meet the friendly staff at Broadview Reproductive Services!

Dr. Michael Norris is a founding member of the Reproductive Services program at Broadview Animal Hospital. He has been a fundamental part of building our service and reputation levels to be one of the best programs in New England. In addition to his numerous certifications and memberships he also brings to the program an extensive surgical background and over 30 years of veterinary and theriogenology experience.

Dr. Norris grew up in Rockland County, New York. By the age of fourteen, he had made up his mind about wanting to become a veterinarian. He states, “I was fortunate enough to be born into a family that loved pets. I have always enjoyed being around animals. There is a certain peace of mind that their presence brings.”

Dr. Norris received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He then received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University Of Pennsylvania. Dr. Norris practiced for five years in Westborough, Massachusetts before moving to New Hampshire. He became an owner of Broadview Animal Hospital in 1988.

Dr. Norris enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but is especially intrigued by anesthesia and pain control, which is a
continually evolving science. He was a member of the Zoetis ELITE speaker program for eleven years, and would often give lectures on
perioperative pain management. Dr. Norris reports, “We are always looking for the perfect anesthetic and safer, more effective pain
control. My involvement in the ELITE speaker program has helped me stay abreast in this field and share my enthusiasm with other practitioners.”

Dr. Norris is proud of his involvement in organized veterinary medicine. His goals are to enhance the delivery of veterinary care to the public and positively impact the veterinary profession. He was past president of both the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association and the New England Veterinary Medical Association. He has also served on
the New Hampshire Legislative Study Committee for Pet Overpopulation, been an alternate delegate for New Hampshire to the American Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of the Advisory Board for Great Bay Community College’s Veterinary Technician program. He is currently the treasurer and a trustee of the Veterinary Scholarship Trust of New England.

As you can see, Dr. Norris is a very busy man but he always reserves time for family. He and his wife, Sandy (whom he met in high school), have a son and two daughters. They own a yellow Labrador Retriever named Sadie, and two cats named Lilly and Nibbler.

Dr. Norris is passionate about fly fishing and was past president of the Hackle & Tackle Club (a local fly fishing group). He is also an avid fly tyer who enjoys tying flies for fresh and saltwater fishing. In addition to spending time in the diverse fisheries in New England, Dr. Norris has traveled to fish in the continental U.S. and abroad. His other hobbies include woodworking and home renovations.
