Veterinarian Staff

  • Dr. Thomas J Brown, DVM

    Dr. Thomas Brown received his veterinary degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca New York in 1994. Dr. Brown, a fourth generation veterinarian, assumed ownership of Plattsburgh Animal Hospital from then owners, Dr.Thomas Brown Sr. and  Dr. Lawrence Sherman in 1994. Dr. Brown continues his special interests in small animal care as well as soft tissue surgery. He has been an avid tennis player for most of his life and enjoys kite boarding and skiing. Dr. Brown and his wife Sarah have been married for 16 years and have four children.

  • Dr. Joseph Church, DVM

    Dr. Joseph Church earned his veterinary degree in 2004 from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine located in Ithaca New York.  Dr. Church became a partner of Plattsburgh Animal Hospital in 2004. His special interests include small animal healthcare and surgery. Dr. Church takes full advantage of the North Country enjoying fishing, boating and spending time with his wife Camry, four boys and one girl.

  • Dr. Tina Corcione, DVM

    Dr. Tina Corcione completed her study of veterinary medicine at Ohio State University in 1998 and has been a valued member of our veterinary staff since 2013. Dr. Corcione has a special interest for soft tissue surgery, as well as internal medicine with an emphasis on geriatric animals. Dr. Corcione truly enjoys seeing exotic species from reptiles, rabbits and birds to the occasional flying squirrel. She spends her time off relishing in what the North Country has to offer by running, hiking and kayaking.Dr. Corcione shares a love for martial arts with her two daughters Kat and Josie.

  • Dr. Ronald Kim, DVM

    Dr. Ronald Kim, a graduate of Ross University, completed his clinical training at Purdue University college of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Kim's special interests are in internal medicine and pain management.

  • Dr. Ashley Ackert, DVM

    Dr. Ashley Ackert, DVM was born and raised in Southern Vermont. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences at the University of Vermont. Then, she took a brief break from the winter weather to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. During her schooling, she developed professional interests in dentistry, physical rehabilitation, and surgery. She enjoys the unique challenge of providing stress free medicine to her feline patients. In her free time, Dr. Ackert enjoys hiking, playing board games, watching ice hockey, and spending time with her cat, Ollivander.


  • Dr. Kate Heatherton, DVM

    Dr. Kate Heatherton received her veterinary medical degree from Ross University in 2004. She has been seeing patients in the North Country for 15 years. Dr. Heatherton primarily examines small animals, dogs and cats, but has a special interest for internal medicine. In her free time, Dr. Heatherton savors everything the Adirondacks has to offer, skiing , hiking and running. She especially enjoys watching her two sons participate in sporting events. Dr. Heatherton has two cats, Riley and Jasper.

  • Dr. Carlea Weaver, DVM

    Dr. Carlea Weaver was born and raised in Northern NY where she grew up surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes.  She completed her Bachelor's Degree at Le Moyne College and went on to earn her veterinary degree at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Her special interests include small animal healthcare, as well as orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.  In her free time, Dr. Weaver enjoys boating on the St. Lawrence River, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and spending time with family.  She has one dog named Oakley, who she spoils endlessly.

Management Staff

  • Mark R LaFountain
    Director of Operations

    Mark LaFountain received his B.S. degree in Marketing and Business from Plattsburgh State and is a native of Peru, New York. He has been the Director of Operations for the Plattsburgh Animal Hospital since 2012. Mark has played an instrumental role during the expansion of our hospital to include the Adirondack Veterinary Hospital in Westport, NY into our network of animal care in the North Country. He enjoys vacations to exotic destinations and spoiling his min pin 'Oliver' and Cavalier King Charles 'Ivy'

  • Renee A Perdi
    Admin Manager

    Renee Perdi  is a graduate of Rutgers College New Jersey with a B.A. in history, and has been a member of the Plattsburgh Animal Hospital management staff since April 2015.  Renee has lived an interesting life in several countries around the world as well as teaching high school social studies for several years.  Born and raised in New York City, Renee has become a resident of the North Country since 2008.Renee's favorite hobbies include kayaking and hiking the backcountry of the Adirondacks with her goldendoodles, Henry and Oliver.

  • Fabi Stewart
    Hospital Supervisor

    Fabi joined our hospital family carrying over 7+ years of experience within veterinary administration from the state of Florida. She holds an academic background within Animal Sciences and Business Adminstration. Fabi is multi talented in many facets of an veterinary operation. She enjoys managing projects from start to finish. When she's not spoiling your pets among both clinic locations you'll find her at her wildlife rescue or enjoying the outdoor activities in the Adirondacks with her family.

  • Ariel Tucker
    Hospital Supervisor

    Ariel started here at the Plattsburgh Animal Hospital in 2015 as a Pet Care Coordinator and quickly grew to be loved by the staff and clientele. Her outgoing personality and great customer service skills make her an amazing attribute to not only our clients but our entire hospital. Ariel plays an important role in making sure daily operations run smoothly. When Ariel isn't at work she enjoys spending her free time with family and her two fur babies 'Carl & Ben'.

Technician Staff

  • Jill Cunningham – LVT

    Jill Cunningham received her degree as a Veterinary Technician in 1990 from SUNY Canton College, New York.  She joined the Plattsburgh Animal Hospital Team in 2013.  Jill enjoys educating and assisting clients with the care of their 'furry children.'  She takes special care to help her patients feel comfortable in a new environment.  Jill is very competitive, likes to stay busy and looks forward to working with a team to achieve the best goals imagined.  She stays quite busy with her five children enjoying everything the Adirondacks have to offer including skiing, biking, hiking and kayaking.

  • Rachel Deyo – LVT

    Rachel Deyo completed her training as a Veterinary Technician in 2006 at the SUNY Canton Campus, New York.  Rachel has been a member of the Plattsburgh Animal Hospital team since 2012 and employs her gentle touch and demeanor with her patients. Rachel's greatest  'hobby' is being a mom to her beautiful daughter Aubrey.  Rachel looks forward to developing lasting relationships  with our clients and their 'furry kids.'

  • Penny Trombly – LVT

    Penny Trombley earned her degree as a Veterinary Technician at SUNY College of Technology at Delhi New York in 1983 and  joined our team in 2007.  Penny specializes in small animal dentistry as well as assisting Dr. Church in surgical procedures.  She spends her time away from the hospital reading and gardening.

  • Tracey Luoma - LVT

    Tracey is a LVT who moved here two years ago from Ohio with her family. She loves working with all animals big and small, scaly and furry. When Tracey isn't working, she can found spending time with her family.
