To make all of our clients and their pets feel most comfortable, we make an effort to maintain a curbside check-in system. This means that when you arrive for your pet's appointment, we ask that you call or text the office to inform us of your arrival and which parking space you have parked in. This expedites our check-in and provides a calmer atmosphere in our lobby. Many pets have anxiety, and waiting in the lobby with multiple pets can heighten a pet's stress level. Waiting in their car in a familiar environment tends to decrease a pet's anxiety level. As soon as your exam room is ready, an assistant will wave you in or call you into the building. Once inside, we will weigh your pet and confirm your contact information.
A technician will gather medical history from you and begin any necessary services, such as taking your pet's temperature, swabbing ears for cytology, gathering bloodwork, and/or go over any vaccinations that your pet may be due for. After a thorough history is gathered, the veterinarian will come in to perform a physical examination on your pet. They will construct a treatment plan with you, recommending any necessary diagnostics such as radiographs, bloodwork, parasite screening, urinalysis, or vaccinations that will be done at the visit. Be sure to ask questions if you do not understand any part of your pet's treatment plan or results.
We recommend that all pets be seen for a physical examination at least once per year. Screening your pet by performing wellness bloodwork, checking stool samples for intestinal parasites, heartworm/tick-borne illness screening, and providing flea/tick/heartworm prevention on a regular basis is also recommended for most pets. We believe in supporting the oral hygiene of our patients and recommend that clients familiarize themselves and their pets early on by getting them accustomed to brushing their teeth. This simple step reduces plaque and tartar accumulation and reduces the risk of periodontal (dental disease) and systemic disease.
Many of our diagnostics such as routine bloodwork and fecal screenings are sent out to an outside laboratory for efficiency. However, if necessary to perform in-house, our clinic maintains a fully functional lab capable of performing many services such as bloodwork, urinalysis, radiographs, ultrasound, etc.
Our goal is to provide our clients and their pets with exceptional care and service. If at any time a pet is determined to have a condition that requires expertise or care outside of our general practice, we will make all efforts to make the referral to a veterinary specialist as smooth as possible.
