Dr. Eileen Fatcheric-Burns joined the Fairmount Animal Hospital team as a Veterinarian in 1992. She grew up in the Tipperary Hill neighborhood of Syracuse. Her combination of her love of animals and caregiving nature made her want to become a veterinarian at a very young age! She is a graduate of Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Fatcheric's has 4 specific goals with each patient visit:
- Make her patient feel relaxed and comfortable.
- Make her client feel appreciated and respected.
- Provide the best possible treatment/medical care for her patient.
- Listen well to her client, address all questions and concerns, provide as much information and education as she can to help keep their pets healthy and happy for as long as possible.
Dr. Fatcheric's family includes her husband Mike (CBA & Lemoyne College), their black Labrador, Dilly and Horses Paz & Kelsey. She cannot imagine a life without them and wants to give them the happiest, healthiest, fullest lives. She has a special place in her heart for pets who have gone on in peace: Rebel, Cookie, Dakota, Dixie, Cassidy, Sundance, and Rain. In addition to her furbabies, she also has nieces and nephews (several of whom are talented athletes) whom she enjoys spending time with and bragging about!
Dr. Fatcheric competes in the sport Agility with her dogs. It is so much fun and creates a super special bond between herself and her dog! They work together as a team! She has had 2 dogs qualify for and compete in AKC National Events.
Some of her hobbies include running, hiking, reading, knitting, gardening, and spending the warmer months at her camp in Chaumont Bay, Lake Ontario. Her and her husband are avid sports fans and SU Basketball season ticket holders. She also has been known to enjoy a game of Candy Crush!
Dr. Fatcheric aspires to live by the words in "The Desiderata", a poem written by Max Ehrmann in 1927. some of which includes:
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
