Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Maker received his veterinary education at Penn State and the University of Tennessee.  After an internship at the University of Minnesota and private practice in MN, he arrived in CO in 1997.  He is passionate about enriching the human-animal bond between horse and rider. Dr. Maker believes in life long learning to better enhance the care of his equine patients.  To that end he enjoys mentoring and assisting with the professional development of equine interns and externs since 2009 assisting with the professional development of the next generation of equine veterinarians.  He believes in the importance of keeping horses and our ranching heritage in the lives of local youth. Dr Maker enjoys all the Colorado outdoors have to offer both on foot and in the saddle with his mule Lilly.

Dr Maker enjoys all aspects of equine practice with particular areas of interest in sports medicine with his equine athlete patients, dentistry and emergency medicine.

Dr. Justine Stalnaker graduated from Colorado State University with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine 2022. She also attended Colorado State University for her undergraduate degree in Equine Sciences, go Rams! Dr. Stalnaker grew up in Hillsboro, Oregon. She first started riding horses at 10 years old and she participated in 4H, her high school equestrian team (OHSET), and local breed shows (Pinto Horse Association of America). She has done just about every discipline but her favorites were working cows and showmanship. Dr. Stalnaker cares about treating the whole horse and implementing different modalities of medicine to find the best outcome. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine especially theriogenology, dentistry, emergency care, and sports medicine. In her free time Dr. Stalnaker loves downhill skiing, running, and backpacking. She also loves fiber arts such as knitting and crocheting.
