Congratulations on your new puppy! Here is a outline on what preventative care your new puppy will need to remain healthy and happy. Your new puppy will be required to have 4 puppy visits to see

the veterinarian. During these visits your puppy will receive exams, vaccines, stool check for intestinal parasites, deworming, flea control, and heartworm prevention.

1st Puppy Visit (6-7 weeks old)

• Physical Exam
• DA2PP (Canine Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvo Vaccine)
• Deworming
• Flea & Heartworm Preventative
• Fecal test for intestinal parasites

2^nd Puppy Visit (9-10 weeks old)

• Physical Exam 
• DA2PP (Canine Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvo Vaccine)
• Bordatella 
• Deworming (if needed)
• Fecal test for intestinal parasites

 3^rd Puppy Visit (12-13 weeks old)

• Physical Exam 
• DA2PP (Canine Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvo Vaccine)
• Fecal test for intestinal parasites
• Deworming (if needed)

​  4^th Puppy Visit (15-16 weeks old)

• Physical Exam 
• DA2PP (Canine Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvo Vaccine)
• Rabies Vaccine (1 Year)
• Deworming
• 6 months of heartworm, flea, and intestinal parasite prevention

​**Spay (female) or Neuter (male) at six months of age.

Puppy Vaccines Include

DA2PP: Commonly referred to as the canine distemper vaccine. This vaccine protects against Canine Distemper (neurological or brain disease), Adenovirus (liver disease),  Parvovirus (severe intestinal damage), and Parainfluenza (respiratory disease).

Lepto: This vaccination protects your dog from four forms of Leptospirosis.  This is a rare but often fatal infectious disease of dogs (causes severe damage to the liver and/or kidneys).  It is also contagious to humans through contact with dog urine.

Bordetella: This is also known as the "kennel cough" vaccine. This protects your dog against certain strains of contagious respiratory infections. The vaccine is typically required 10 days prior to boarding, grooming, starting day care or obedience classes.

Rabies: This vaccination protects your pet from a serious viral infection that is spread through the saliva of infected animals. The rabies vaccination is required by the state of Kentucky because rabies is contagious to people. 

Before you bring your puppy in for their first appointment, you may view and print the Puppy Wellness Chart and bring it in with you at the time of your visit.
