Job Duties:

Provide quality diagnostic and therapeutic veterinary medicine to the pets of our clients. Veterinary Medical Care - establish and implement medical and general care protocols for the health and wellbeing of the animals; ensure sound veterinary medical practices; perform and interpret abdominal and cardiac ultrasound, perform medical care for shelter and publicly-owned patients; comply with all laws pertaining to controlled drugs; assess animal health; oversee cases and develop treatment plans for hospitalized patients; enhance professional knowledge and skills. Other duties include: Assist with staff development through mentoring and training, perform client and community services, facilitate good working relationships through teamwork and collaboration; and ensure a safe work environment

Job Requirements

Required DVM from an accredited veterinary medical college, or equivalent degree, or foreign equivalent degree License to practice veterinary medicine in the State of California. Work experience must include: abdominal and cardiac ultrasound for small animals (performing and interpreting scans); recommend and administer routine preventive care; diag nose and treat animal illnesses, including knowledge of pathophysiology; interpret lab results; soft tissue an d orthopedic surgery; emergency and intensive care clinical work; perform and supervise dentistry including mu lti-root extractions; interpret radiographs including dental films; substantially focused on the treatment of dogs and cats; knowledge and application of best practices in anesthesia and pain control; communication with clients and staff; electronic documentation of medical records. None of these skills can be acquired in a reas onable period of on-the-job training.
