Dr. Koryn Swearingen is a native of Champaign-Urbana. She attended the University of Illinois as an Animal Science Major and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Newfoundland's were a breed of choice growing up, so getting used to hair and slobber came naturally. After spending her first 7 years out of school in the beautiful state of New Hampshire, she returned home to the Midwest. She currently lives in Lake Villa with her husband Rick.  The family currently shares their home with 'IVY',  a Golden Retriever, a Hanoverian horse named Primm and 2 cats, Jack and Schy.

Dr. Swearingen's personal passion is horseback riding.  She also spends her free time boating, water skiing and enjoying their farm down state. Koryn and her husband Rick also enjoy visiting their 4 adult children - Ashleigh, Stephani, Brooke and Jacob. Her favorite aspect of practicing Veterinary Medicine is serving pets of her own community. Her approach is very personal and tailored to the individual needs of each family.

Dr. Cindy Marks graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.  She knew from a very early age that she wanted to be a veterinarian and help animals.  After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology for the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, she began her veterinary career at Hawthorn Animal Hospital in Vernon Hills as a veterinary assistant/receptionist.  She enjoys practicing high quality medicine with a focus on internal medicine.  She is currently a member of the AVMA.

Dr. Marks shares her life with her husband Brian, a Waukegan firefighter, and her two kids.  Her animal family includes two rescue dogs: Brewskie & Ginger, and her cats,  Max & Smokey.  While she is not working, Dr. Marks loves spending time with her family and animals, watching movies, and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr. Joe Armagno graduated with honors from the University of Illinois in 1993. He is a fear free certified veterinarian. His favorite part of being a vet is performing a variety of surgeries. Dr. Armagno is marries and has 3 children. He has a Jack Russel name Zoey, a cat named Dolly, and a corn snake named Starchy. He enjoys many outdoor activities. He has several hobbies including bee keeping and wine making. He also enjoys weekends at his cabin up North. 

Val has been with Village Veterinary Clinic since 2008 and has been a veterinary technician since 2012! She has two adorable pups named Jade & Jack, and loves to go camping and hiking in her free time. Valerie is such a gem to have at our clinic and always keeps everyone laughing!

Emily joined the Village Vet team in 2015.  She has worked in the veterinary field since 2008.  She received an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Rockford Career Collage in 2011.  Outside the clinic Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  She also enjoys the outdoors and cleaning.  She is thrilled to be helping animals and making a difference in their lives.

Alix has worked at VVC since 2014, and has been a technician since 2012. She currently has one dog and a beautiful horse. She is vital to the VVC team success and truly loves caring for the local animal community. 

Karyn has been a client of Dr. Swearingen for 19 years and came on board as a part time receptionist in July 2012. Karyn lives in Hainesville with her husband Jerry, three children and their Golden Retriever Barnes.  She truly enjoys assisting clients and loves to greet their furry friends. During her free time she enjoys bike riding, going to movies, spending time with her family and visiting with her friends.

Kerry has been with Village Vet since 2007. She has lived in Grayslake for over 32 years. Kerry and her Husband Terry have 4 kids, 2 Doodles, and duck. Kerry loves being up front, helping the clients but also is a great helping hand for the techs in back.  

Chris has worked at Village Veterinary clinic since 2005 as a receptionist.  She has two sons, Greg and Jeff.  Their family is complete with 3 cats, Ziti, Fredo & Scofield.  Chris enjoys her work tremendously, especially meeting new patients (4 legged) and new breeds.  Her hobbies include baking and gemology.
