Dr. Jen Sletmoen graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and joined our team in 2014. She became our practice owner in July 2018. She has a special interest in preventive medicine and chronic disease management, with focus on quality of life for pets and their families. She is always learning new treatments and techniques to provide current recommendations and effective care for her patients. She lives on an acreage with her husband, Michael, and their furry family consisting of Henry the border collie, Cirrus the blue-eyed cat and their horses named Whisky, Freda and Gale. Dr. Sletmoen enjoys spending time with family and friends; exploring new places and visiting her hometown of Fort Frances, Ontario; going to plays, concerts and sporting events; biking and yoga; reading and trying new recipes.
Dr. Borys Agarkov graduated from veterinary medicine in Ukraine in 1999. He then moved to Israel and worked as a veterinarian in small animal practice there for over 15 years. He moved to Canada in 2018 with family: his wife Yulia, son Georgy, son Arkady, daughter Nina, two dogs named Cookie and Candy and three cats called Fox, Julie and Shemesh. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, fishing, picking forest berries and mushrooms and collecting coins. Dr. Agarkov has a special interest in feline medicine and behavior and looks forward to meeting you and your pets.
Recently retired (we all wish her the best in this new chapter of her life), Cindy Shymko had been with our team since we opened our doors. She was our hospital administrator and has been a Registered Veterinary Technologist for over 30 years. She was the recipient of the 2010 Manitoba Animal Health Technologist of the year award and contributed a vast amount of knowledge and experience to our team. She will be missed!
Jen Hunnie joined our team in 2003. She graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Red River College in 2003. She has a special interest in client education, diabetes and dentistry. Jen is also our Registered Veterinary Technologist team supervisor. Her leadership and experience are invaluable to our team! She lives in the country with her husband Dave, daughter McKenna, son Joel, bunny Wilbur and their dog Casey. Most of her free time is spent with her family doing various outdoor activities. She enjoys camping, travelling and scrapbooking.
Caitlin Schultz joined our team in October of 2014 as a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She graduated from Red River College in the spring of 2014. She lives in the country with her husband Brennan and their pets: a Boston Terrier named Turbo and a cat named Scarlett. Her special interests are labwork, nursing care and pet nutrition. In her free time she enjoys going to concerts, baking, and spending time with her pets.
Carlissa Spence joined our team in January 2021 as a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She graduated from Red River College in 2020. She lives in the country with her pitbull Peach and Malamute x Chett and her horses. Her special interests are dentals, labwork and client communication. In her spare time she loves to cook and bake.
Melanie Kwiatkowski joined our team in 2001. She graduated from the Receptionist/Office clerk course at Red River College in 2001. Melanie is currently our Client Services team supervisor. Mel works hard every day to ensure you have the very best service experience possible at our hospital! Mel also supports our inventory program and has a wealth of knowledge regarding the products we carry. If you have a question about pet food, or would like to place a special order, Mel will be able to help you out. Melanie lives in St. Andrews with her husband Tyler, their daughter Alexis, and son Logan. She enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors and camping. She has a senior dog named Lady and a cat named Ginny.
Savannah joined our team in 2018 as our kennel attendant and is now one of our client services representatives. She has 2 senior cats at home named Tango and Midnyte, and a 1-year-old Boxer named Olive. Savannah is currently working on her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Winnipeg, and plans to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She loves learning and has a special interest in client education and senior pet wellness. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and improving her photography skills.
Taylor Jennings joined our team in the summer of 2021 as a client services representative. Taylor lives in Gimli with her family and pets Harley, Buddy, Gibson and Gizmo. In Taylor's spare time she enjoys going for walks with her dog Buddy and being outdoors.
Milo joined our team in March 2019. We were planning to find Milo a new home. However, we quickly fell deeply in love with him and realized that his forever home was here. Milo loves stealing toys, hiding in cupboards and being sneaky by going into areas that he knows he’s not allowed. He is very sweet, loving and cuddly. He loves his new life as a clinic cat. His calm and laid back personality is a perfect fit. He enjoys watching us take care of our patients. He does like to sample from pet food bags so he is strictly behind the scenes, which is why you may not see his cute face.
