PRE and POST SURGICAL INFORMATION:
Prior to undergoing anesthesia, it is vital to evaluate your pet’s current health prior to surgery and your Vet may recommend pre-anesthetic blood testing. If you have elected any of the recommended blood tests, our nurse will collect all blood samples and tests prior to the surgery. If any questions arise, the doctor may contact you at the number you provided to discuss any concerns. At the time of drop-off, our team will be happy to answer and questions or concerns you have.
If you are a new client to the clinic, you will be required to have a pre-surgery visit the morning of the procedure. These appointments will need to be scheduled in the morning rather than later in the afternoon to ensure proper recovery time required after surgery. At this time, our team will collect all the needed medical and vaccination history on your pet, and can then answer any questions or concerns you have.
Pet Drop-Off:
Please make arrangements to drop-off your pet between 8:00am – 9:00am the morning of the surgery, unless other arrangements have been made in advance. The staff will be able to answer any questions you have at this time and
Pet Pick-Up:
It is very important to be prompt for your pick-up appointment so the Vet is able to schedule the needed time to speak with you if needed, as they may have several surgeries scheduled that day. You will also receive important Post-Op information for the required home care of your pet.
The night before your pet’s surgery, you will need to:
- Withhold ALL food and treats after 9:00pm
- Water may be left out after this time frame
- If you are currently administering medications, vitamins, injections, etc., please withhold the morning doses unless otherwise instructed by your doctor
- Cats must be in separate pet carriers
- Dogs must be on lease or in a pet carrier
- Bring vaccination history papers (not tag) if requested if these have been completed at another clinic
- Females in heat or pregnant at the time of surgery will require an additional fee
- Males with undescended testicles will require an additional fee
We request that you allow plenty of time for your pet’s procedure to be completed. Pick-up’s will typically be after 4:00pm, depending on how many surgeries are scheduled for the day. Our team will reach out to you when it’s time for their discharge. Once you arrive at your “scheduled pick-up appointment”, the receptionist will invoice your procedure and the veterinary nurse or doctor will go over discharge orders verbally and give you a written copy of post-op instructions. It is important you follow these as instructed for the best possible recovery for your pet. The instructions are also located below for you to download and print if desired.
