Vaccinations for a Healthier Future

A long and energetic life for your furry companion begins with protecting them from infection and disease. We recommend that puppies and kittens make their first veterinary visit at six to eight weeks of age. We will perform an in-depth physical exam to detect any common ailments they may be dealing with, such as worms or fleas and provide prompt treatment. They will also receive their first shots to prevent distemper, parvo virus, and hepatitis in dogs or feline calici virus or FVRCP for cats. Of course, we will inoculate against rabies, too.  It is essential they are fully immunized by the age of 16 weeks.

Schedule Spay/Neuter and Microchip Procedures Today

Unless you intend to breed your new pet, we always recommend scheduling a spay or neuter surgery by the age of six months to help control the pet population and prevent reproductive disease. We complete the procedure in a single day and your puppy or kitten will typically recover at home in just a few more days. Dogs and cats that have been spayed or neutered tend to live longer and healthier lives. While your pet is here, we can also install a microchip so that if they ever become lost, their chances of being reunited with you are higher than they otherwise would have been. The chip is inserted just under a pet’s skin, typically between the shoulder blades.

Learn All About Your New Kitten

Even if you raised a puppy or kitten in the past, it is always wise to ask us about new recommended guidelines for feeding, shelter, exercise, and training. Together, we can create a healthy feeding and play schedule to help your new kitten or puppy grow into a happy and confident companion. Ask your veterinarian all about common illnesses, their symptoms, and physical challenges associated with your animal’s particular breed.
