Benefits of Pet Exams in Ocala FL

Pet exams are important for many reasons, including:

  • Pet exams help strengthen the bond between veterinarians and pets.
  • Pet exams can help your pet’s veterinarian catch your pet's parasites, dental disease and other health conditions in their early stages.
  • Bringing your pet in for regular wellness exams gives you a chance to ask the vet questions about your pet’s health, habits and care at home.

What to Expect from Pet Wellness Exams

When you bring your pet in for a wellness exam at Magnolia Animal Hospital, we’ll begin with a physical examination of your pet’s mouth, ears, skin, coat and other physical characteristics. We’ll also listen to your pet’s breathing and heartbeat, and we’ll take a sample of your pet’s blood or feces. During the wellness exams, we may find evidence of dental disease, parasites and other health conditions. If this is the case, we’ll make recommendations for treatment.

If your pet needs vaccinations, we’ll recommend shots during your pet’s wellness exam. For pets suffering from chronic conditions, we’ll also work on development of a treatment plan to help ensure that they get the care they need to stay healthy.

When to Take In Your Pet for a Wellness Exam in Ocala

Pets should see the veterinarian at Magnolia Animal Hospital at least once annually, starting from age 6 weeks. Older pets are at higher risk for illnesses and chronic conditions, so we recommend that older pets come see the veterinarian twice annually.

In addition, we recommend bringing your pet to the veterinarian whenever he or she shows warning signs of illness or disease. Pets with problems like shortness of breath, fatigue, disinterest in eating, difficulty sleeping, itchiness, skin irritation; vomiting and diarrhea should come to see us as soon as possible.
