Laser Surgery

At Twin Pines Veterinary Clinic, we have been utilizing laser surgery for over 8 years.  We pride ourselves in being able to offer this alternative to standard surgical practices.  Learn more about what makes laser surgery a better alternative to traditional scalpel surgery.

Why Laser Surgery?

Less Pain - Surgery using a laser "seals" and protects nerve endings as it moves through the skin tissue during surgery.  Having the nerve endings "sealed," your pet will feel less pain post-operatively.

Less Bleeding - The laser "seals" small blood vessels during surgery.  This allows Dr. Cox to perform surgeries with great precision.  In addition, the laser can speed up some surgical procedures which reduces the amount of time your pet may need to be under anesthesia.

Less Swelling - Using a laser during surgery does not crush, tear, or bruise skin tissue.  This in turn reduces the amount of swelling your pet may experience from surgery.  This can improve your pet's recovery from surgery, often times reducing the length of a hospital stay.

What Does This Mean For My Pet?

Reduced Risk of Inflammation - The laser sterilizes as it "cuts" through the skin tissue, killing bacteria that can cause infection.  The decreases the likelihood of an infection.

Precision - The laser can remove unhealthy tissue, making incisions that minimizes the effects to surrounding healthy tissue because it seals nerves and vessels, resulting in less swelling and pain for your pet.

Quicker Return to Normal Activities - Recovery is more rapid and there is less post-operative discomfort, meaning your pet can return to their normal, happy selves.
