Services

We're pleased to offer the following services at  Northwoods Animal Hospital:

Appointments

BULL

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available. A 'drop off' means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Usually we will ask you to drop off sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients.

For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

After regular business hours and on holidays

Guardian Vets is here!

GV

We have partnered with GuardianVets to provide you complimentary after care support.  If you have a question about your pet after hours simply call our practice and you will have access to a veterinary professional.

We are pleased to provide after hours emergency consultations from a licensed veterinary professional. These individuals will help to determine whether or not a trip to the Emergency Vet is necessary. To reach one of our on-call professionals:

  1. Call our main number: 715-356-3269
  2. Follow the prompts to automatically be connected to a licensed veterinary professional who will triage the emergency. No sitting on hold, no leaving a message with a service, and no cost to you!

Many times, our on-call veterinary professional can help prevent unnecessary late night trips to the ER, and will assist you with scheduling an appointment with the Northwoods Animal Hospital at your earliest convenience.

If the on-call veterinary professional determines you need to see a vet immediately, you will be connected with one of our veterinarians or triaged to one of the Emergency Hospitals we recommend for 24 hour patient care.

SURGICAL PROCEDURES

CAT

Dental Cleaning Dental disease is the most common problem our pets face!  The most common problem is plaque or dental tartar.  Dental calculus (tartar) is composed of various mineral salts, organic material and food particles.  In the early stages of accumulation, the material is soft (plaque), but it later hardens and adheres to the teeth.  Continual accumulation causes inflammation of the gums and eventual recession of the gums and loose teeth.  The breath becomes very odorous and the mouth becomes a dangerous source of infection.

Ophthalmic Surgery Dr. Theuerkauf specializes in  various eye procedures and ocular surgeries including cherry eye repair, v-plasy procedure, entropion surgery and corneal gridding. His years of experience, combined with continually keeping up-to-date on procedures through continuing education, will help keep your pets eyes healthy and pain free!

Orthopedic Surgery Dr. Hayman has a special interest in orthopedic medicine and has performed hundreds of ACL (anterior cruciate ligament tear), patellar and fracture surgeries.  His years of experience, combined with continually keeping up-to-date on procedures through continuing education, will give your pet the best possible surgical care in the area!

Soft Tissue Surgery All of our veterinarians are qualified to do numerous types of soft tissue surgeries.  We pride ourselves on successful outcomes, quality care and safe anesthesia monitored with progressive medicine.

VET STEM

Stem Cell Therapy certified with VetStem Regenerative Stem Cell therapy is a broad definition for innovative medical therapies that will enable the body to repair, replace, restore and regenerate damaged or diseased tissues. VetStem uses a concentrated form of  adult stem cells to treat traumatic and degenerative diseases, including bowed tendons, ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, and osteochondral defects in dogs and cats.

  • "Thank you to Dr. Hayman and staff for their continued help and dediction to our shelter pets. From appts on very short notice and discounts for our needy rescued dogs they stand ready to provide great care with compassion, experience and knowledge. They make these unwanted pups feel as important and loved as those currently in homes and that alone makes them wonderful if not for all the other reasons. Again... Thank You"
