Microchip

Millions of pets go missing each year, and many of them never find their way back home. Prevent your pet from becoming another statistic by investing in microchipping. At Sunnymead Veterinary Clinic, we understand the value of microchipping, and we strive to provide this vital service at the most affordable price possible.

Each microchip has a unique ID and, once the chip is registered, the ID can be used to look up your pet’s name, gender, age, breed and other vital information. A registered chip also contains your address and contact information. The chip – which is roughly the size of a grain of rice – is injected between your pet’s shoulder blades using a hypodermic needle. The process is quick, and there is no need for anesthesia.

If your pet is ever brought into a shelter or a vet’s office as a stray, he or she will be scanned for a chip.

If a chip is detected, the scanner will read its ID. Using this information, the vet or shelter will then be able to look up your pet’s information as well as your contact information. Make note, though, that keeping your chip’s registration up-to-date is vital when it comes to being able to reunite with your pet in the event of the unthinkable.
