Pain Management

KEEPS PETS COMFORTABLE

#

Our pets are members of our family, and we want them to be treated with care and compassion. At Porter Pet Hospital, pet pain management is part of our treatment plan for many conditions. Many times in a pet’s life require effective pain relief. It is an important consideration during dental procedures or surgery as well as when treating ongoing chronic conditions such as arthritis.

PAIN MANAGEMENT DURING PET SURGERY

When your pet needs surgery, you can be sure that the veterinarians at Porter Pet Hospital make sure to give pain medication before beginning so that your pet will feel less pain during and after the procedure. We use intravenous (IV) means to continually administer pain medication. Giving ample pain management medication during surgery greatly affects the amount of discomfort your pet will experience throughout his or her recovery. Effective medication results in a smoother recovery and a happier pet.

SOME SENIOR PETS NEED PAIN MANAGEMENT

Aging pets may suffer with the symptoms of arthritis. They slow down and are less able to move with the agility they once had. We can help. Using medication on an ongoing basis, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), can be the key to greater mobility with less pain if your pet is suffering from joint problems. Dietary supplements can also help the joints of both cats and dogs.
