Mark Wadstrom and Kimberly Noel are the co-owners of the Animal Care Center of Salem. They met at Ross University while attending its Veterinary School, were married in 1992, and are the proud parents of Christine, Christopher, and Jacob. When they aren’t at ACCS, they tend to an extensive menagerie that currently includes eight dogs, three cats, three miniature donkeys, three Haflinger ponies, one paint mare, a bearded dragon, and thirteen goats. Drs. Wadstrom and Noel both have vast experience rearing Golden Retrievers, and have donated puppies from litters they’ve raised to the St. Francis Service Dog Foundation. They’re unique in that they’re two of the few veterinarians in the Roanoke and Salem area who offer breeding and artificial insemination consultations.

Dr. Wadstrom

Mark Wadstrom was born in Salt Lake City and grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico. After graduating from New Mexico State University with a B.S. in Animal Science and double minors in Biochemistry and Biology, Dr. Wadstrom decided to pursue veterinary medicine and earned a DVM from Ross University in 1992. He frequently performs ultrasounds, dental procedures, endoscopies, and complex orthopedic or exploratory surgeries. During his free time, Dr. Wadstrom enjoys water and snow skiing, backpacking and hiking, horseback riding, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Noel

Kimberly Noel is a Roanoke native who graduated from Cave Spring High School, earned her B.A. in Biology from Virginia Intermont College, and graduated cum laude from Ross University in 1990. Before settling back in the Roanoke region, Dr. Noel practiced veterinary medicine in Oklahoma, New Orleans, and Virginia Beach. Dr. Noel loves to train dogs, read, hang out with her children, and grab a nap whenever she can. Dr. Noel has also been an avid horsewoman her whole life, and participated in Hunter/Jumper and dressage competitions as a child. To this day, she still enjoys saddling up and going for trail rides.
