Treating chronic ear disease and infection in cats and dogs can be difficult and frustrating. Our video otoscope allows our doctors to get a close look deep in the ear canal. With this technology, we are also able to perform deep cleanings of the canal, removing foreign material, hair, and accumulated debris that manual, superficial cleanings may miss. Detailed imaging of the tympanum (ear drum) is possible, allowing us to evaluate whether infection is present in the middle ear as well. If so, myringotomy (surgical lancing of the ear drum) may be performed to drain the infection and allow application of topical antibiotics.
