PROACTIVE MEDICINE PROGRAM

At Animal Hospital at Mid Valley, we understand that your pet is more than “just a pet”; he or she is a member of the family. All too often, veterinary medicine is “reactive” rather than “proactive”, which can lead potentially negative or disastrous results, largely because our pets cannot inform us of their problems, aches and pains. Many of our clients would prefer for us to take a more proactive approach, and that is why we have developed our PROACTIVE MEDICINE PROGRAM.

This program is offered for dogs aged 7 years and up, and cats aged 8 years and up, and the battery of tests should be considered approximately every 12 months. Bear in mind that, because our cats and dogs age more rapidly than humans, there is a limited window of opportunity to identify disease at its outset, rather than finding problems after they have caused physiological damage, some of which may be irreversible.

We understand and appreciate that this program is not for everyone, but is meant as a measure to find health problems early in their development, at a point where addressing the problem may significantly improve the outcome of the problem.

The Proactive Medicine Program Includes:

Full Physical Examination, including examination of the eyes, ears, oral cavity, lymph nodes, skin, heart, lungs, abdominal examination by palpation, rectal exam, and palpation of the prostate gland.

Expression of the anal glands (as appropriate)

DIAGNOSTICS:

BLOOD: Total Body Function blood test: CBC (complete blood count), full chemistry panel, T4 thyroid screen

Heartworm antigen test

Urine: Urinalysis (specific gravity, sediment examination, urine dipstick), Urine Culture

Fecal analysis for GI parasites

Eye pressure check

Abdominal Ultrasound

Radiographs (xrays) of the chest

Radiographs (xrays) of the abdomen

The following is a partial list of possible diseases and problems that we are attempting to detect with the diagnostics listed above. Note that these diseases are common in dogs and cats, but please also note that the list is NOT a comprehensive list:

Anemia, Leukemia, Diabetes, Cushing’s disease, Addison’s disease, Kidney/glomerular disease, Liver disease, Bladder/Kidney/Ureteral stones, Heartworm disease, Urinary tract infections, Gastrointestinal parasites, Cancers of the Internal Organs (thorax, abdomen, mammaries, genitourinary tract), Liver/biliary disease, Hypothyroidism (dogs) and Hyperthyroidism (cats), Glaucoma, and other maladies.

The entirety of the fees for this program would cost almost $1200, but we would like to offer a substantial discount of the fees for this program in order to gain more information for your beloved family member.

The program is priced at $749 to include all of the above. Please call for an appointment if this program is of interest to you!!!

Testimonials

  • "Laser treatments have been very helpful for my dog Lexis, who was having stiffness in her hind quarters. We noticed a difference immediately. And we like not giving her prescription drugs."
