Practice Owners

Karl Anderson
Doctor Karl Anderson attended U.C. Davis as an undergraduate, and subsequently worked in hazardous waste remediation in the field of large oil-contaminated land remediation. His love of animals drove Karl to return to his Alma Mater U.C. Davis in 1997 to study veterinary medicine, graduating in 2001.

Dr. Anderson's interests include surgery, internal medicine, and more recently alternative therapies to address pain control. When off work, he enjoys the company of his wife, Lori, their three Peruvian Paso horses, and their two dogs Bella and Conan. His outside interests include golf, music, and he is an avid automobile enthusiast.

Lori Anderson, Registered Veterinary Technician
Lori has enjoyed working with animals for all of her life.  An avid and accomplished horsewoman, Lori has worked passionately for over 20 years training, breeding, and showing Peruvian Paso horses.  In the last decade she has transitioned into small animal medicine, and completed veterinary technician courses at VASE, PCDI and Penn Foster, culminating in her obtaining licensure with the Veterinary Medical Board as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). In 2010 Lori and Karl married, and became proud owners of Animal Hospital at Mid Valley.

Technical Staff

Jess Bockman-Esquivel

We shamelessly stole Jess from Starbucks, where she learned about excellent customer service!  Jess absolutely loves working with dogs and cats, and provides excellent client communication for our people. Jess' outside interests include caring for marine mammals, hiking, and enjoying life in general, open to endless possibilities.

Destinee Chuca

Destinee trained at Central Coast Community College to be a Veterinary Assistant, and intends to further her training with a goal of gaining licensure as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the years to come. She enjoys a pet rabbit at home ("Rumper"), and a dog named Jesse who takes good care of Destinee's grandmother. Outside interests include all things Harry Potter and Disney, hiking, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends "doing nothing".

Reception Staff

Rachael Chavarin
Rachael has been with Animal Hospital at Mid Valley since 2006.  She is excellent at interfacing with the clientele here to make certain our clients are well-cared for. A self-proclaimed "National Park Geek", Rachael loves hiking and exploring the Great Outdoors.  She is also an avid reader, her nose stuck in a book at every opportunity she gets!   When Rachael is off work she and her husband Sal enjoy spending time with their Chow-Australian Shepherd mix, "Abby", and their Cardigan Welsh Corgi "Dakota".
