Ear polyps can originate for several reasons and can develop in both external and internal parts of the ear. Chronic allergy issues or an overproduction of ear wax can cause lasting inflammation in the ear which can lead to inflammatory polyps. Other kinds of polyps, including those that are cancerous are also common. Any polyp in the ear can obstruct the ear canal and cause natural ear secretions to become trapped which creates a perfect environment for yeast and bacterial infections to develop.
