Why CT

Silicon Valley’s Cupertino Animal Hospital Now Offers On-Site CT Scanning with Xoran’s Portable VetCAT

Cupertino Animal Hospital in San Jose California is now offering on-site CT scans for pets with VetCAT, a small portable CT scanner from Xoran Technologies LLC.

Why CT?

At Pet Ear Care Center we realize that many ear problems are chronic and non-responsive to the conventional treatments. As we know, the ear problems can be one of the most painful conditions and when it is chronic ear disease, the pain and discomfort remains for lifetime. In order to treat ear diseases, proper diagnosis is the key. After years of experience treating difficult ear conditions what we have learnt is for accurate diagnosis it requires experience, endoscopic evaluation and the CT imaging.

We have over 24 years of experience treating some of the most challenging ear cases using endoscope. Endoscope provides phenomenal view of the disease process; it still cannot visualize all different locations of the middle ear where the pain and actual disease originates. In many cases, the ear may look completely normal to most trained eyes. With the CT imaging it reveals the hidden middle ear diseases. To understand the pathophysiology of the middle ear conditions, the CT gives in-depth view of the changes which causes chronic ear diseases.

We realized that the CT imaging is even more important in pets than in people when it comes to ear problems. Pets cannot tell you if the ears are painful, if the ears are ringing, there is tinnitus, hearing white noise, autophony or tympanophony, if there is hearing loss, they have vertigo etc. Successful and effective hearing test cannot be performed. Imaging technology is by far the only non-surgical way to get complete diagnosis of middle ear pathology and the CT is one of the most accurate diagnostic tools for diagnosing ear diseases in people as well as in pets.

Pet Ear Care Center now offers in-house high resolution 3D CT. While working on the ears under anesthesia it takes less than 20 seconds to complete the ear CT and more accurate treatment plans can be implemented in one visit.

Seeing the joy of passionate Veterinarians when discovering 3D images of their patients for the first time is an amazing experience” said David Sarment, DDS, MS, President of Xoran Technologies.

We are excited to use cutting-edge technology. With VetCAT, I can finally see XRs in three-dimensions. It is easy to use and makes me a better Doctor.”, says Dr. Munir Kureshi, DVM, owner of Animal Cupertino Hospital in Cupertino, California.
