Wax Plugs

01

Wax plugs develop in a few ways. The ear can overproduce wax, creating a hard mass of wax lodged in the ear canal. A foreign object such as a foxtail or stand of hair can get trapped in the ear resulting in a buildup of wax around the object. An infection in the middle ear could rupture the ear drum, causing the infection to solidify and form a wax plug.
