Peter purchased Tsolum Mobile Veterinary Health Ltd from Patrick O’Brien in October of 2003. The practice is a good match for Peter, with an excellent mixture of friendly pet owners and farmers, beautiful scenery and seemingly limitless choice of recreational pursuits.
Peter particularly enjoys working with the hard-working and independent dairy farmers of the Comox Valley! A variety of farm designs, milking parlors, machinery, and hired hands keep the daily veterinary work very interesting! Starting in 2013, the small animal clinic was established at the Merville Store, with Peter and associates caring for a wide range of dogs and cats in this rapidly growing portion of the practice!
A variety of species of domesticated animals are found in the Comox Valley and surrounding islands and rural properties. Horses, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, chickens and turkeys are commonly encountered in daily travels.
Community involvement is another important part of Peter’s life. Coaching and playing on a number of teams (basketball, lacrosse, and rugby), sponsoring and judging agricultural classes at the fall fair, highlights the importance of community in Peter’s life.
Peter’s mother, Lorraine, lives in an extended care complex in Campbell River. They both enjoy Sunday night visits and Doc Martin reruns. Susan, the other member of the Parke family, lives in the Comox Valley and enjoys helping coach basketball. Peter also has two dogs (Smarty Jones and Sheila), ten cows and 10 chickens.
Keep Smiling Everyone!
Dr Erin Manson grew up in Victoria and after completing a Biology degree at UVic relocated to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she met her husband, Chris. She attended vet school at the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, then spent several years working as a vet in Stirling, Scotland. She has now returned to the Island with Chris and their 2 dogs, Poppy and Fergus.
Suzanne was born and raised in Chemainus, BC on a dairy farm. She moved to Courtenay in 1995. After swearing that she would never marry a dairy farmer, she did just that, in 1996. She has 3 boys, as well as a step-son. She started working Saturday’s at Tsolum Mobile in 2010, and now works 2 days a week. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching basketball and cooking…a necessity with all those boys!
