Integrative Therapies

At Bridgeway Animal Clinic, we strive to provide our patients with the most comprehensive system of care possible. This is why, in addition to our extensive range of traditional veterinary care services, we also offer a number of integrative therapies to provide our clients with more options when it comes to the care and treatment of their cherished fur babies. We believe the more choices you have, the better the chances of your fur baby enjoying a long, happy and healthy life, which is always our goal for every patient that we serve.

These holistic and alternative therapies may be used alone or in conjunction with traditional medical care to treat a variety of illnesses and injuries, and help bring our patients to a more balanced state, both mentally and physically. Contact us today to learn more and to find out if your fur baby would benefit from any of these integrative therapy services.

Acupuncture

The practice of acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to treat a broad range of medical conditions. The process involves the use of tiny needles which are inserted into the skin in a way that targets specific areas of the body for optimum results. When inserted, these needles stimulate nerves within the body and cause a cellular reaction that can trigger pain relief and increase the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Now we can apply these same techniques to the treatment and care of our animal companions. Veterinary acupuncture can be used in the treatment and ongoing management of:

  • Gastrointestinal Problems
  • Respiratory Issues
  • Urinary Tract Disorders
  • Musculoskeletal Conditions
  • Dermatological (Skin) Problems

Acupuncture is virtually painless and the results can be seen almost immediately. The length and frequency of acupuncture treatments depends on the type of condition and its severity, so it’s something that will be determined by our veterinarians on a case by case basis.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

For thousands of years, Chinese herbal medicine has been used on humans to promote good health and manage a variety of illnesses and diseases. This practice uses natural herbs derived from plants, strategically combined together for optimum results. Herbal medicine can be used on our animal companions to treat the following medical conditions:

  • Allergies
  • Skin Conditions
  • Arthritis
  • Problems with the Reproductive System
  • Respiratory Conditions
  • Digestive Problems
  • Immune System Disorders

Food Therapy

The ancient concept that certain natural foods, when used in combination with one another, can bring about a sense of balance within the body has long been applied in human alternative medicine through the use of food therapy. Also called nutrition therapy, this methodology can also be used to help our four-legged family members remain in good health by preventing illness and can also be used to treat and manage a variety of existing medical conditions. Food therapy is typically used in conjunction with Chinese herbal therapy and acupuncture, but it can be used as a stand-alone therapy.

Therapeutic Laser

Laser therapy is a highly effective treatment option that is being embraced by pet owners everywhere for its painless, non-invasive and drug-free nature. The therapeutic laser uses a high intensity beam of light to penetrate the skin and target various areas of the body. It has been proven to reduce pain, improve mobility and speed healing following trauma from surgery or an injury. Like acupuncture, the results from laser therapy are often evident almost immediately, however, our experienced veterinarians will advise you on how many treatments your fur baby will need to achieve optimum results.

Chiropractic Services

Companion animals can benefit from a visit to the chiropractor just like humans can, and at Bridgeway Animal Clinic, we offer this service as a part of our comprehensive suite of veterinary care. Chiropractic treatments are primarily used to correct what are known as subluxations, or misalignments of the skeletal system. These subluxations typically occur in the spine, but can also affect the joints, causing pain, stiffness and reduced mobility. A veterinary chiropractor can perform specialized treatments to bring the targeted areas back into alignment, reducing pain and improving performance.
