Dr. Kathy Stohlmeyer
Dr. Kathy Stohlmeyer received a B.S. Degree in 1982 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1986 from Iowa State University. After a few years of practice in Cedar Falls and St. Louis, she and her husband moved back to Ames to open Ames Pet Hospital in 1991.
Dr. Stohlmeyer is a member of American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Medical Association.
She lives in the country with her husband (Joe), and their 2 children- daughter (Hunter) and son (Joey). They have 2 dogs, (Bogie and Rocky, both Small Munsterlanders) and 4 cats (Maverick, Nikita- Norwegian Forest Cats, Charm, and Daffy- shelter kitties)
Her interests include reading, painting (water color and oil), bird watching, and watching her children play sports.
Dr. Margaret Elliott
Dr. Margaret Elliott received her BS degree at ISU in Microbiology in 1997. After completing her PhD in immunology in 2002 and a postdoctoral program at the University of Nebraska Medical center in Omaha, she moved back to Ames in 2005 to work in dairy cattle research at the National Animal Disease Center. Having always wanted to be a veterinarian, Dr. Elliott chose to leave research to pursue a veterinary degree. She completed her DVM in 2012 and is very much enjoying her new career. Not only working with companion animals, but also the people who love them!
Dr. Elliott is a member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Her interests include canine performance (obedience/agility) and pet dog training, training for behavioral issues and teaching training to pet owners. Dr. Elliott is a certified training partner with the Karen Pryor Academy of Animal Training and Behavior.
Dr. Anthony Haban
Dr. Anthony Haban received his B.S. degree at Iowa State University in Animal Science. He then continued his education at Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2014.
Dr. Haban is a member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Haban lives in Nevada with his wife (Allison), daughter (Cora), son (Miles), and their dog (Marley).
His interests include hiking, fishing, camping, skiing, playing sports and pretty much anything that has to do with being outdoors.
Joe Stohlmeyer, Hospital Administrator
Joe is a familiar figure at Ames Pet Hospital. He is married to Dr. Kathy Stohlmeyer and assisted in starting the business in 1991. He has been working as practice manager since.
Joe grew up in Ames and attended Iowa State University.
His interests include hunting, fishing, golfing, watching his kids play sports, and training his dogs.

Richelle Whittlesey, Practice Manager
Richelle is from upstate New York. Richelle started at Ames Pet Hospital in early November 2014.
Richelle lives north of Ames with her husband, Zachary. They have four dogs; Misjif, Ryleigh, Jitterbugg, and Fidget, two cats; Pancake and Waffles, and lots of pocket pets!
Her interests include spending time with her friends, family, pets, and with all of you!
