Radiology is a term used to describe methods that provide medical imaging to diagnose and treat disease. Radiology includes imaging techniques such as X-ray and ultrasound, both of which can be invaluable when diagnosing a problem.
X-Ray
X-ray provide imaging for well known problems such as broken bones. In addition, x-rays provide images of lung tissues as well as organ size and location. X-ray is the most common diagnostic imaging tool available in the veterinary industry.
Ultrasound
Ultrasounds provide detailed images of internal organs most commonly for diagnostic purposes and is completed by a board certified radiologist. Some of the primary advantages of using ultrasound are that it is a non-painful process and no anesthesia is required.
